Went here for the first time for a birthday party, they offer a lot of really neat ways to workout for kids and adults. Everything was going great and my son was having a blast until it came time for the boys to swim. My 13 year old is Autistic and sometimes doesn't know his limits. I was worried about all 3 pools being so close together at all depths, so I took my shoes off and took a seat next to the most shallow pool to watch him swim and make sure he didn't try to get into the other two pools. I was asked by one of the life guards to please leave if I wasn't swimming and go sit on the observation deck, at which point I told her my situation and that I wasn't comfortable doing that while he was in the pool. The obeservatin deck is all the way on the other side of the pool area and up a flight of stairs. Everything seemed fine for about 15 minutes until I was approached by another lifeguard who demanded I do the same thing, then tried explaining to me that she understood because of having an autistic family member, and that she was perfectly capable of watching him. First of all there were only 3 life guards on covering 3 pools that I saw, most of the time they spent off their chairs walking around kicking people up to the observation deck or screwing around with the male lifeguard rather then watching the out of control children in all 3 pools. I was not comfortable being that far away from my son so I pulled him out of the pool full of his friends and took him off to find something else to do while they all swam. I did talk to someone in the office and they did assure me this would be brought to attention and possibly some exceptions could be made. I really hope so, they have a pretty...
Read moreI'm visiting family in Cooperstown that are members. We went to the early morning yoga class, which was very good. It was challenging, but not too challenging to exclude those newer to yoga. They provide mats, straps, blocks, and blankets. The facility is beautiful. In the afternoon, we rock climbed and used the pool. All the staff we interacted with were beyond friendly, encouraging, and helpful. I almost wish I lived in Cooperstown, so I could come here regularly. I'm not sure on the membership fees, but it was $10 for a day pass that included classes, climbing wall, pool, and other features. It included the weights and other machines. That would have costed $15. I highly recommend this...
Read moreExtremely rude staff at the swimming pool. They harass you when you are in the change room by knocking loud on the door saying "get out" , "the pool is closed'. The pool closes at 12 on Sundays and they expect you to be in the parking lot at 12???!! Also several of the lifeguards (on Saturday shift) are extremely rude. They allow children to toss a foot ball around the pool. It hit me and my daughter several times and it's a huge safety hazard. New York Department of Health should really audit these guys and get them some training sessions on public safety and better attitude towards...
