Upstate Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Town of Otsego

While the food at this establishment had potential, unfortunately, the service significantly impacted our overall experience, leading to a disappointing visit.

Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and greeted warmly by our server, who initially came across as friendly and attentive. However, after taking our appetizer order, service became sporadic and unresponsive. We waited over 90 minutes for our entrées—with no communication or updates in between. When we inquired about the delay, the situation escalated unexpectedly.

Our server reacted with unprofessionalism, walking away from the table while making profane remarks audible to one of our party members. When she returned, she delivered the entrées, which were only lukewarm and, in one case, overcooked. At that point, we kindly expressed that we would prefer to take the food to go and settle the check, as the extended wait had disrupted our evening. One member of our party chose to leave early after overhearing the inappropriate language directed at us.

Shockingly, after I offered a calm apology and reiterated our desire to simply leave, the server leaned over the table and yelled directly at me. Despite my partner’s attempts to de-escalate, she continued the confrontation, seemingly targeting me because I had taken a more empathetic approach. The outburst was deeply inappropriate and unnecessary. She then returned abruptly to the table and slammed the check down with force.

To add to the frustration, our table of 3 —despite arriving well before another large 30+ party—was overlooked entirely once that group was seated. They received their drinks, appetizers, and entrées before we had even gotten out order. All of us have worked in food service and understand the pressures of the job, but this experience reflected a disregard for basic hospitality and restaurant etiquette.

We had looked forward to dining here, especially as I am local and it was my first time here….but the lack of communication, delayed service, and ultimately hostile treatment for simply wanting to leave peacefully made the experience one we will not...

Very disappointed with my recent visit. I don't know if they have a different cook or what but the food was not that good. My husband had a maple burger and his was swimming in so much grease that it was very unappetizing. I had a Cuban and it was different and greasy, and my plate came out luke warm (including fries which wasn't what I ordered. I had asked to switch out the fries for veggies.) while everyone else's at the table came out piping hot with fries you couldn't touch for a second. The server did bring out my veggies and my daughter agreed they were just nasty... cold, soggy, and seasoned with nutmeg (disgusting).The hotdogs are humongous for little kids or to be on the kids menu for that matter ( also they weren't hotdogs but kielbasa). The kids housed the fries and chocolate milk. Our server was super friendly and polite. She did make me nervous though when she kept coming by our table telling us our food is almost done and apologizing for it taking so long etc.. We didn't even complain about the wait and were handling the two kids who were, well kids, just fine. Had me thinking that we had been there for hours the way the server kept it up, to the point my husband even asked me how long we were waiting. The wait wasn't even that long!! 20-30mins. The staffing is all different as well. I think I seen one server who was there the last time we went (about a month or so ago). I have had some awesome dishes from here many time before but this last visit has my husband and I saying "nope", not an option next time for date night. Looking for quick greasy bar food and sports on the TVs then this...

Atmosphere was great. Was seated within five minutes of walking in the door. Unfortunately that’s where the good ends. While being seated promptly it took roughly 25 minutes to get our appetizer and had no utensil’s or napkins at our table. We placed our food order the same time as our appetizer. When waitress came back to clear our appetizer, we requested napkins as we had been eating chicken wings to which waitress replied “ well we don’t have paper napkins only fabric ones sooo “ …. It took another hour to get our food which is when we finally received utensil’s and napkins. Atleast three tables we noticed had been seated after us but received their food well before we did. One table next to us was seated 20 minutes before we got our food and received theirs only minutes after us with similar food orders. We were offered no complimentary water as all the other tables, refills on any of our drinks, a beer, two sodas and chocolate milk. When we got our food it was warm but not hot like it was just cooked. Girlfriend had steak with potato w/veggies on the side. All were cold like they had been sitting for 45 minutes. Steak was luke warm and gravy had started to solidify on the top because it was sitting for so long. Waitress was unengaging, unfriendly and uninviting, acting as if she didn’t want to be there and we were inconveniencing her. We drove an hour to try this restaurant out and will not be returning or recommending to any of our friends and family .Considering the price of the menu, much more was expected. Definitely not worth the drive...
