As a truck driver for over 30 years, this is absolutely one of the worst places I've ever unloaded at. The place has one of the worst organized receiving systems I've ever seen. It's worse than you could imagine. They will not accept your freight early, no matter what, but they might tell you that they will, just to get you here on time. Why they care about you being here on time is a mystery, because they will not unload you on time. Once you get here (at your appointment time), the gate security will send you back to the receiving office. You do not check in at this office, sign in, or even speak to anybody at all. You just put your paperwork into a tray, and wait for the yard spotter to figure out which truck you are, and tell you which door to back in to. If you are really lucky, that will happen within an hour or so after your appointment time, but don't count on it. Anyways, you get the picture... That's why you will not see very many major carriers actually delivering here. Most of the major carriers have trailer drop arrangements, it avoid this place. In fact, most of the drop trailers in here are intermodal, or freight carriers such as ABF, OD, UPS, Roadway, XPO, etc, and a few big carrier trailers here and there. I have never had more than about 3 dozen trucks, so I could never afford to buy extra trailers and leave them sitting around at distribution centers. What could they do to improve things here? Anything and everything, but just to kick things off, here are 3 suggestions that would be helpful: Have the dock internally pre-assigned ahead of the truck's arrival, so that all the truck has to do is check in at the gate and be assigned a dock door, for starters. Keep an unassigned dock door every few doors, so that they can squeeze in early and late arrivals in the same area that they'd normally receive that freight. Take the driver's personal and company contact information at check-in, so that they can communicate effectively with the driver. It's not as if these people would ever read this review, or even care, if they did happen to...
Read moreFirst thing is first, you better have your appointment number ready upon your arrival. I did not expect to need one as I was doing a transfer from another DC in Georgia, but color me surprised; they almost turned me around at the gate!
I can certainly see why people complain about this place. Thankfully I was on a DC to DC transfer, so I was in and out in an hour and a half, but the fact that receiving doesn’t know what door to put you to upon your arrival, though they require an appointment number and know you are coming, befuddles me. Then we’ve got the yard guy sitting in his truck flirting with a female truck driver for about half an hour when he should be running around telling people what door to go to. God only knows how long I was sitting in my truck waiting to be notified of a dock because he was trying to talk her out of her clothes(can’t blame him too much, though, she was friendly and well-built).
Clean restrooms are provided, yard jockeys and the Guard Shack personnel were friendly overall, can’t say the same for the guy in the office. He acted as if you were putting him out just by showing up. The truckstop around the corner was great, however. Super friendly people there, plenty of parking even late at night, and that’s a good thing because there are no vending machines at this DC and they do not allow overnight parking.
Overall not a terrible experience delivering to this place, but I’m glad I was doing a transfer and not a normal delivery...
Read moreNo overnight parking, but there is a truck-stop 0,2 miles away. If you are coming here for live unload with preassigned door and 3 am app. time it mean NOTHING! NO ONE IS THERE at that time! Security will tell you come back between 5 to 6:30 am for check in. Unloading starts at 6 am! No door number now, you go to receiving office, drop your BoL and wait till yard switcher lets you know the door number to tail for. CLEAN RESTROOM in the rec. office. Had checked in at 5:10 am and been called to the dock at 5:35 am. Got start unloading at 6:00 am. They finished with my trailer at 11:30 am. So you need some patience and delayed next...
