I'll begin my review by first stating we have reported this facility to the NYS Dept of Health which has also initiated an investigation into the inadequate care my relative received while at this facility, and for only a week and a half. Don't be fooled by the pleasant decor when you first enter the facilities. The care of your love ones will be subpar at best. Due to the lack of visiting hours, because of Covid, it was a free for all as patients were hardly cared for but of course workers will be so caring and at their best during FaceTime visits. The FaceTime visits receive were insufficient and couldn’t show the true story of the goings on inside. Staff was advised and fully aware that our love one had a risk of falling, yet she fell out of her wheelchair on day 1. It was obvious from each FaceTime that she was declining rapidly and was getting very little interaction with staff and no physical exercise or physical therapy, which was ordered. Another interesting point was she had arrived to the facility with 3 pairs of new pajamas for her short stay however we were noticing the unfamiliar clothes she would be wearing at each FaceTime visit. The staff would be questioned each time with no answers. Needless to say all her new pajamas disappeared. How does that happened in a secure facility such as this?
The last straw was during our last FaceTime meeting we noticed she wasn't responding, looked completely broken, withdrawn and sad and had a swollen lip with dried blood around her mouth. When a follow up call was placed with the nursing supervisor they could not account for the injury however they did advise she was no longer eating or drinking. We had to initiate the call to be told our love one is no longer eating or drinking???????? Where is their commitment to the patient's care? Completely immoral, unethical and most definitely illegal. She was immediately transported by ambulance within 1 hour as per our request not theirs. She would not have lasted another 48 hrs. Upon arrival at St Francis and having X-rays and blood work initiated she was completely dehydrated, dangerously high sugar levels, bruising on both legs and a BROKEN FEMUR!!!!! A broken femur and nobody from within picked up on this injury that occurred on premise?????? Disgraceful!!!. 90% of reviews are negative and we now know why but unfortunately get to add one more. Most importantly "DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS LOCATION" You might be adding your own negative review such as us and the experience...
Read moreThis place needs to be shut down! Absolutely unacceptable. Let me just give a few examples of the kinds of things that you will find here: • Dirty urine stained furniture in the public areas (see photos). I mean every single seat and couch in the lobby waiting room. What a welcome! • Well used room furniture that looks like it was bought at a surplus auction in 1975 • Rusty commodes and toilet seats • Toilet seats not cleaned • Bathrooms not sufficiently cleaned – old grout stains, rust etc. • Insufficient supplies for the wellbeing of the residents. • Food that is not fit for a refugee camp. The bottom in quality and taste. • Minimal physical therapy facilities • Staff that do the minimum ( a few exceptions who do the best they can given the circumstances) • Staff that do not exist to help your loved one when needed because this place is all about making money so they do not hire enough people • Because they do not hire enough people your family member will be put in a diaper whether they need it or not. • Your family member will not be up and dressed at an appropriate hour when there is no staff. One day my mother was left in bed until noon! Usually they got her up at 10-10:30. On discharge day no one was there prepared with instructions to help my mother leave. And why is that? Because they have no staff!!! We had to hunt down everything we needed and call, and call again. So unprofessional. Truly sorry my mother had to endure even 1 day of this horror. So why is Medicare paying this place? Does anyone ever do inspections? I sure hope they do after I file my...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous!! My father was transferred here for rehab from St Francis and lasted ONE DAY here before being rushed back to the hospital. He came here on Friday evening and my husband and I came up the next day with his belongings. We found him naked and sliding out of the bed. I alerted the nurse on 2 Floor and she could care less. “Oh he just trying to get up, it’s ok.” My father is a big fall risk and requires a 1 to 2 person assist, she should know that as it is in his chart. He cannot “get up” on his own. She gave me a huge attitude when I told her this and asked her and the aide to lift him. He was lethargic, non verbal and fading in and out, looked drugged. This is not how my father looks normally at all! Nurse said “he came here this way” from hospital, but in the same breath said “he was fine all day.” This is certainly NOT how he was discharged from St Francis. I asked if he should go back to hospital and she said “do whatever you want” and walked away. She spoke Haitian in front of me about my dad to the point where I had to ask her to speak English. Final straw- nurse and two aides held his head back and force fed him food while he was unconscious!! They said “look he eating he fine!” He almost choked!! I demanded they stop and call an ambulance and off he went back to St Francis. He was dehydrated and in sepsis!! STAY...
