Hatchet Hardware — Local services in Town of Schodack

As a good citizen, I know I am supposed to bypass the “big box” stores and support our neighbors. Well, my neighbors at Nassau Country Value fell short. I bought a new propane tank for my grill from their store in April and have been having trouble lighting the grill on and off since. Maybe it is the grill regulator, maybe it is the tank. I had just paid for a refill of the tank in June to be sure it wasn’t empty and my neighbor made me pay again to switch out the tank to test if it was that tank itself (purchased from their store). $20+ to switch the tank for a test. I don’t spend huge amounts of money in their store but I do try to be a good neighbor and buy from them when I can. Not anymore. I will not feel guilty buying from the big guys now that I know my neighbors really aren’t such...

What a great experience! We went in looking for a specific type of feed for our special needs pony, and a young woman named, Kiki, went above and beyond to help us out. She was extremely knowledgeable, and took the time to compare the nutritional values between the different brands of feed in the category we needed. Without her help, we were essentially flying blind with only a vague recommendation from our vet to guide us. Now our sweet elderly pony has exactly what he needs. We are SO thankful for her assistance! We will most certainly be return customers. Not only for pony feed, but as a result of the excellent service we received, we've decided we will also be getting our chicken feed there as well. I can't recommend Nassau Country Value...

I love going here! Down home family atmosphere where you're greeted every time you walk in the door. Always helpful for whatever item or items you need. Quick to help you figure out what you'll need to get the job done. If they don't have it, they'll often order it for you. So much more than your average hardware store. Plants that are always top quality. Pet foods that are a great selection. Household cleaning equipment. And so much more... For a little local hardware store, they really pack it into the space.
