Spotlight Theater took over what used to be one of my favorite movie theaters to go so there were high expectations already from me. Providing three different theaters for you sit in and view the latest and greatest that Hollywood has put out, it provides a local option for those not wishing to make the trek to Geneseo or go as far as Tinseltown. You'll find that same delicious, buttery popcorn you crave here as well as a good selection of drinks and candy. There are also good deals and combos, especially for kiddos, to take advantage of. Despite its small size and relative closeness of viewing rooms, you'll find the experience cozy and quaint. Even with Michael Bay levels of explosions in the next room over, the bleed through is very minor and often unheard.
That said, keep your expectations low. I have heard lots of complaints over the years about this theater but my response to them is simple: This isn't a Regal theater. This isn't an AMC theater. This is a tiny theater doing its best in an era of streaming, so remember that when you walk in and get mad because your seats don't recline, or the popcorn wasn't made perfectly.
My only complaints are the speakers in the largest viewing room seemed to have a couple of issues the last two times I went this year where vocals were barely audible and some of the high pass was muffled. And please update your restrooms, it isn't as nostalgic to be using the same exact toilets I did twenty...
Read moreNice local hometown theater who seems to get a variety of movies to accommodate varied interests. I especially like that fact this theater gets faith produced films for us Christians to go see locally. Staff friendly. Prices decent. Soda and popcorn has always been good. The drawback would be the handicap in wheelchairs and walkers is not located in comfortable view, which in other theaters is located in the upper rear of theaters, or center flooring, not in the very front, lowest level and is hard on the eyes, neck and head. I would not recommend anyone Of this type of handicap assist, not to bother going unless your disabled person can walk independently and safely up sets of steps without railings. I discovered this drawback when I brought my husband to go see a movie and couldn't get his wheelchair into a position for comfortable movie watching for him as well as me. Otherwise the...
Read moreOverall decent value and theatre. Lacks handicap access, handicap parking, etc. Attended a “Free to Be Me” movie which typically is a mid morning showing (10:30am) once a month and a patron yelled at us for our granddaughter having her iPad too loud. Furthermore, it was not commercial free and nor was the sound lowered…The sound rumbled the theatre which is why my granddaughter kept her iPad loud but either way she wasn’t allowed to “be herself”. I was under the impression this was to be an “inclusive” showing for those specifically on the spectrum to have the chance to enjoy a theatrical experience but apparently, these patrons were not aware and thought of us as the rude ones. It was a very disappointing experience to...
