I started to notice lower back and hip pain on my right side about 15 years ago. The pain became more persistent and progressively worse over time. X-rays of my lower back led my doctor to believe the cause was a lumbar spinal problem, and suggested physical therapy. At the time I was not aware of Mind Body PT and worked with two different PT practices that did not help relieve the pain. Finally a CT scan revealed an unusual, rare, and intractable problem; an aneurysm in a persistent sciatic internal iliac artery. Because of the aneurysms location, a full on surgical solution would be complicated and problematic with a very long recovery period and so an arthroscopic procedure to close off the blood supply in and out of the aneurysm was done.
This procedure provided relief for a few years however the pain slowly returned. Another CT scan showed that the aneurysm had developed a new blood supply and grown in size and so a second arthroscopic procedure was performed with the same results; temporary relief from pain and once again over time a larger aneurysm. My primary care physician and my vascular surgeon agreed that another try with physical therapy might be worth the effort.
I now knew that the Mind Body Physical Therapy practice had worked wonders for my wife and also for a friend who herself was a Physical Therapist and so I began treatment with them.
What an amazing turn-a-round! Oriana was my lead PT and did my initial and subsequent evaluations as well as teamed up with Andriana my PTA in planing and implementing a very thorough exercise program which I continue to follow every day.
Both Andriana and Oriana were conscientious, empathetic, congenial, professional and made every visit productive and rewarding! I am pain free for the first time in years! I highly recommend them, and Mind Body...
Read moreThe Mind Body Physical Therapy and Pilates practice is amazing. I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome), for which there is no recognized medical intervention and no cure, several years ago. A urologist gave me a list of many, many foods to avoid with one very limited list of foods which might be OK to eat. More than six months of a limited diet did not help. Repeated bladder instillations did help somewhat. I have been to Mind Body for various problems over the years which were treated very successfully but I was skeptical about pelvic physical therapy. But being in pain, I decided to try it. A course of physical therapy with a wonderful therapist at Mind Body who has a doctorate in pelvic health has given me back my life. I am in very low level occasional pain in spite of expanding my diet to foods I was afraid to eat before and my life no longer revolves around figuring out where bathrooms are when I am out and about or waking up many times at night. Thank you Mind Body. I am very grateful for a much...
Read moreI've had chronic lower back pain for many years (thanks grad school!). Several years ago I had a bad flare up and my doc told me she wanted me to try this Pilates based Physical Therapy place. I was skeptical about spending all that time but after my first appointment, I was invested. My whole life, I found trying to stand up straight exhausting, so my posture was awful. Mind Body helped me slowly built up my core strength. The therapist was like a personal cheerleader. After my course of therapy, my back felt great and I was finally strong enough to really stand up straight. But I wasn't done. I had graduated to the Pilates Mat class. I have been attending class weekly for several years now. I am maintaining and building on the strength I gained. In many ways, I feel better now in my 50's than I did in my 30's. I only wish I'd known about and done this sooner. An additional bonus is that because the class counts as PT, I can pay for it with my Flexible...
