I’ve been playing here for so long so i’ve seen the ups and downs of this place. It’s obvious it doesn’t beat out the other local courses such as Gold Mountain.
The Staff: Really friendly and i almost know everyone’s first name there inside the pro shop. They offer great tips to beginners as well as people who’ve been playing for quite awhile. Overall really awesome people.
The Range: A really good range for the area it’s in. I feel like the range has gotten busier ever since the one off 303 closed down but hey, more business for them. Love the setup is as it’s fit for all types of seasons such as our rainy days here and our rare sunny days due to half of it being covered with a roof and the other half without a roof. They also have a practice bunker which is really neat. Overall a great range for the city of Bremerton.
The Course: The reason this review is only three stars. The opening holes are great for both the front and back, but it’s really hard to find your ball when there’s a landmine of range balls all over the first hole on both front and back, so it’s definitely frustrating. It’s somehow wet all the time i play even on a sunny day, and my guess is the drainage system. LOTS of ground under repair throughout the whole course which has been an issue ever since i started playing here. Lastly i’d like to talk about the greens, it’s almost like putting on carpet most of the time which is a bad thing, but as of 9/22/23, the greens have actually been pretty decent.
OVERALL: This is a decent course for the area it’s in and i really do believe rolling hills has a great future upon themselves if they do it right. I honestly wouldn’t blame them if they close the place down for a bit so they can give some of the ground under repair sometime to grow. Great Staff & A...
Read moreThe award for most-improved golf course should go to Rolling Hills. It was pretty bad there for a while. As someone who has played there for close to 40 years I was about to split. But they are turning it round. They've started rolling the greens so you don't have to hammer a put to get to the hole; and the bumps and bounces are gone. Fairways have been widened. Rough is a challenge! Bunkers are maintained. Range balls are new, stocked, & a decent value. The pro shop has friendly staff and fair prices, so buy local.
If I had one request it would be that they core the greens twice a year. They're a little bouncy since they don't have a true sand base, and it's pretty hard to hold a green when it's warm outside. Adding a little sand with the punches over the last couple years has helped, but that process will take a decade to make them legitimately great.
All in all, I'm glad I stuck with...
Read moreIn march around 12pm, I took my 3yr old son with me to the driving range, I got a jumbo of balls and gave some to my son to wack at. He was only hitting them maybe just down the hill within 10ft and I’d have him retrieve them after he hit them. It was kinda nice bc he wasn’t using up all of mine. UNTIL some old man in his 80s came out and told me I couldn’t have my son do that. I tried to reason with him and tell him we’re the only ones out here what is the problem. He stated other ppl on the driving range sometimes hit them close and out of line. I said I understand that but we’re out here by ourselves and I’m not going to be hitting my balls when my kid is down range. Trying to reason with an old man set in his ways didn’t work.
