This review is related to the Dixie Horse Auction since they don't allow reviews on their page. We have been coming to this sale for YEARS, specifically for the field auction, and have looked forward to it every year but in the past four or five years it has gone drastically downhill. The field items have declined in quality each year, with them ignoring their own prior rule of "no flea market junk". We went to both auctions this year and didn't stay for either because there was nothing but garbage (other than the carriages and equipment)...rotten wood and broken items. When they allow an entire row of pallet returns, huge boxes of clothes, tables of miscellaneous shoes and second hand appliances, it's clear that they are now only in it for every penny they can get with no regard for whether quality items are being consigned or not. No wonder the trailer loads of good antiques are no longer being consigned. Today, there was one small trailer with good antiques and one small trailer of Hobby Lobby type items with a couple of antiques sprinkled in. I get that it's a "horse auction" first but why even offer general field consignments if you aren't going to try for at least a LITTLE quality. We will not be back. For us, this sale died...

The experience was great, but I would really love to see the county invest more money into the upkeep. Exposed nails etc ,buildings literally falling apart and looks like NO recent improvements have been made to structures. Iredell county is a farming community and our fairgrounds should show that ! I'm sure if materials could be purchased the community could volunteer the time to make the improvements. It's just sad to see them doing so many improvements of other buildings ,yet what our community is based from is...

Visited in September for the county fair. It was ok. Parking was $3, which is aggravating since they just have you park in the mud/grass, but it's not too bad a price I guess. Entry fee was $5 per person, which I think was reasonable. Rides were basically $1.50 each unless you get a wristband, but my kids didn't want to ride enough stuff for the wristband to be worth it. The fried oreos were good, and I'm sure the other food trucks were fine too. Overall nothing exceptional, but meets expectations for a...

We had a really good time here. The rescue roundup event had tons of food and other vendors and several really well-maintained bouncy houses. The fairground will hopefully try tackling the ants problem before the next event. At two different vendors we stopped at, neither of which was selling food, there were ants everywhere and they bit me and my 3 young kiddos all up before we saw them swarming.
