We brought our 2024 Teacher Fellowship cohort here as part of our tour following the trail of The Great Locomotive Chase, which began in Marietta when the "Andrews' Raiders," a group of Union soldiers and civilians, stole the locomotive "The General" and launched the day-long chase back to Chattanooga that resulted in the awarding of the first Medals of Honor. Natalia Williams and her team were exceptionally accommodating and willing to make this stop happen for us. Lucia guided our golf cart tour down the tunnel itself and gave us a wonderfully detailed history of both the tunnel and its role during The Great Locomotive Chase. Some of our group even tried out the "safety alcoves" built into the tunnel to give pedestrians a place to wait out passing trains. Fun fact: we don't think modern people fit as well as those from the good old days! We all found this part of our trip really fun and interesting. Highly recommend! NOTE: It's kinda chilly in the tunnel, so you might want to bring a...

Yes, you can walk around on a tour... but you really need to get the guided tour. And for the guided tour you need to know a name... Jennifer!

We had an absolutely wonderful and amazing time through history with Jennifer! She was providing the perfect amounts of history and personalization to make our time there memorable. Not just quoting a track she learned by rote memorization, she varied her presentation by showing personal favorites, encouraging questions from us, and engaging in conversations with us about what we can learn from our history.

If your thing is trains or American history or the War Between the States, you are going...

My brother in law from Colorado and me from Ringgold visited the Heritage Center today and took the guided tour with Danielle as our guide. A real gem of a museum, a labor of love with great artifacts. The tunnel and house tour were great. Most of all, Danielle's enthusiasm and passion for the tour were spectacular. She completely immerses you in the history of this beautiful museum. I have wanted to go here for years and now I have. I can't recommend the tour highly enough. Thanks for your spirit, through the rain,...

Amazing experience. Spend the extra 2 dollars and do the guided tour. They drive you around in a cushy golf cart while explaining the history and significance of the area. Friendly staff and guides, overall we highly recommend this place.

Took the private tour and it was nice and informative. You will ride on a golf cart that can fit about 6 people. You'll go threw the old train tunnel, house, general shop and see other farm buildings. Free parking on site.
