Todd's Big Star — Local services in Tupelo

I have shopped at Tupelo Todd's Store for over 40 yrs. Last week I could not believe what I saw. I called saltillo store and talked with manager since Clay was not in store at that time.I never received a call from Clay. I thought it would be proper to talk with him instead of making negative remarks .He did not call.Problems; yards of meat freezer section was lined with bloody meat paper with dead and live flies.The more expensive ground meat was so gray I would not dare buy it.Packs of chicken were floating in water and blood.One whole meat section had bloody meat paper with 10 to 12 ind. sliced Watermelon packs displayed in that meat section.The restroom had no soap or towels to even wash your hands. I knew you do have to note expiration dates since so much of their supplies have expired.While apparently the store in Saltillo must be doing well I was concerned about the safety of meat in Tupelo store. I shop here every time I travel to Mississippi to see my family. Nicest employees a person could ever encounter. Everytime I shop here there is always some one available to assist me. Fresh meat and veggies. Decent prices, clean store. I loooove the meat selection mainly because some of the meats this store sells you can not find in Michigan. One thing I noticed this store does not carry the fresh (precleaned) bags of greens. They only have the kind you have to pick and clean (I don't mind this process every once and again but not all the time). This particular day, I was going to purchase 7 packed of chicken - all thighs. However, since I had on a N95 mask on, I assumed all was well. When placing the meat on the roller at the checkout, the cashier thought the meat smelled back, well, it was, I lowered my mask and it smelled spoiled.

The cashier was really kind, meat was not purchased, meat manager was called up front, said they just packed and labeled the meat a few hours ago. He smelled the meat, snatched it up and headed to the back.
