I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Dr. Diaz (the son) I have an immense fear of the dentist and quite frankly that’s probably even an understatement. I have been putting off being seen, knowing I have much to be addressed and have lived in discomfort, pain and embarrassment, on and off due to that fear for years up until recently. My visit was more than I could hope for. They were BEYOND patient, kind, understanding of my worries and concerns. I didn’t feel judged or looked down upon but rather comforted and cared for. I went in feeling so anxious and overwhelmed and left feeling hopeful and positive about my next visit. I can actually say I am not afraid to go back!!!! Something I never expected going into this. I appreciated that Dr. Diaz is taking time to formulate a treatment plan and asked what my priorities would be as far as what to get started with first and what would be most important to me. I wish I could go into more detail, I could honestly go on and on. However, if you’re like me, knowing you need to schedule your appointment but nervous and scared to do so….Please just give them a call, the women at the front desk are just as kind and compassionate. When calling to schedule my appointment the anxiety was clear and she took time to listen and work with me on getting something set up. I promise you, they will truly help you work with calming that anxiety and understand and validate those concerns. You’re in excellent hands! My wife has always had a really serious phobia of dental offices. So much so that she cannot even discuss dentists and before now would be in tears before we even pulled into the parking lot. While it is a subconscious fear it is very real. After numerous bad experiences I found Riverview Dental Designs and Dr. Dias. From the moment I began talking with his staff I felt I had found the right place. They made an appointment for me to meet with Dr. Dias. I met with him and a member of his staff for almost an hour. Their patience and understanding were amazing. We scheduled another meeting in their conference room with my wife and I just to get her to meet Dr. Dias and talk about sedation. Her trepidation was obvious and I had to assure her that we were going to just talk. After that we scheduled her first appointment. The entire staff as well as Dr. Dias are the most understanding and compassionate people I have ever met in this field. The lengths they went to just to make my wife feel as comfortable as possible are unparalleled to my knowledge. While she still has her phobia she has learned to trust Riverview enough that she can even walk into the office and back to the room without burst into tears or having a panic attack. As a new Tuscaloosa resident, I needed to establish dental care in the area. After doing some research, I landed at Riverview Dental Designs. I’ve now had the pleasure to see both Drs. Vandervoort and Diaz for my care. Dr. Vandervoort delivered excellent care during my initial exam, listening to my history and current concerns, and has been a pleasure to work with in having crown work done. He referred me to Dr. Diaz for management of my TMJ disorder. I’ve now seen Dr. Diaz for a TMJ consult that included administration of Botox, as well as a subsequent appointment for administration of Juvederm for my nasolabial folds and mouth commissures. Dr. Diaz was patient in listening to my complicated TMJ surgical history, provided a thorough explanation of his recommendations, and has delivered Botox injections that have alleviated my tension and pain, as well as Juvederm injections that have made me feel more confident about my appearance.

Additionally, the hygienists, assistants and front desk staff have been a delight to engage with during appointments. I’ve been fortunate to have Lana assist Dr. Diaz for my last few appointments. She is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet, especially in a setting that many associate with a bit of anxiety. She has been so helpful in putting me at ease, anticipating my needs, and communicating with me throughout procedures to make sure I’m comfortable.
