DO NOT leave your adopted pet for spay/neuter if the staff is scattered. You will end up belittled for expressing any concern over their error!
I am editing my review to reflect the treatment the rude guy working thought best to hand me when picking up our 2 adopted puppies from their spay (mine and my mother's). I brought the 2 puppies for their spay and 3rd round of parvo vaccines this morning. The whole thing was scattered and rushed as they were trying to get prepared for the mass drop off. There was no paperwork to fill out, no questions asked of us. Just a "we'll just leave them here in the outer cages until we go". I inquired about cones to make sure I didnt need to purchase any, and after being there for 20 minutes and swearing to my puppy that i was coming back, I asked if anything else was needed from me, the man said no, and they would call me when done. When I picked them up, the same man started giving me the run down of the certificates of spay and rabies. My heart dropped as my puppy had gotten her rabies vaccine at her first appointment with her vet, and had her rabies tag on her collar that she was wearing when left for spay. I was concerned as i wasnt told they would be getting this vaccine and wasnt sure of the affect of having 2 in 3 weeks. If it was mentioned as being part of the day. I could have stopped it. Rabies vaccines were never mentioned as being taken care of in the adoption process by the shelter staff at anytime during my adoption which is why i had it done with her vet .When I told them my puppy had already had that vaccine 3 weeks earlier and wanted to know the implications of repeating it. He looked a little pale-ish and spoke to another man about refunding it, then continued, that at 10 years old she would have 5 vaccines instead of 4. I must have still had a worried look because he looked at me and abrasively said "What do you think is gonna happen ma'am"? At that point I stated I didnt know as Ive never had this happen, and I left. I took the puppies out of the outdoor cages and got into my car to leave. At that point I realized the pups didnt have their cones on, and my son went back for them, only to then have a different man come out, to give the vaccines they WERE supposed to get, in my car. I cant imagine being such a prick that I would demean someone for being concerned about their 17 week old puppy being over-vaccinated. Before this day i would have recommended this shelter to anyone looking for a pet, however if this is what to expect, it will sadly be my first and last shelter adoption.
I went into Palms N Paws on 6/14 after seeing a post about a beautiful pup, and deciding she just had to come home with me. She was to return yesterday for another round of vaccines, and my mom went to adopt her sister. The woman who took care of my paperwork was lovely and we are so grateful to have our sweet baby girl, I couldn't imagine not...
Read moreSo today I took a German shepherd here that was found over the weekend by someone else and brought to me. The dog was found out of town and picked up obviously because it was roaming around somewhere and it’s hot outside. Well the dog was found Saturday evening while all the shelters were closed until Tuesday. Then the dog was given to me because the guy that had him couldn’t keep him where he lived. I tried everything to get this dog to a shelter because I couldn’t keep him in my home because my dog isn’t friendly with other animals. I had no luck they were all closed. Finally it comes around today, Tuesday and I’m able to bring him to the shelter here in 29 and a very unfriendly man with a ponytail gave me a very long and rude lecture about picking up dogs I guess I was supposed to let the dog just have a heat stroke. He was very unfriendly and rude from the minute I arrived and didn’t even ask me anything about the dog. I do have some information about the dog personality wise that might be helpful for his adoption if you guys would like to contact me in a...
Read moreI experienced an awful mishap this morning when I woke up and went to feed my horses. 6 horses were missing. I then discovered that someone had done property damage and tore down two different fencing I would like to assume that there was more than one person because some of the posts were concreted in the ground. I was spending the morning searching for them. And then, Paul (the water guy) called me and told me where they were. At that same time, Rick , Morgan and one other guy (I’m so bad with names). and they were absolutely incredible and willing to do anything for my horses. I am so very grateful that they chose to come and assist. Guys, this would not have been possible without each of...
