I liked the minimalist vibe and concept but there are some design quirks and growing pains I noticed as a guest. ||I’ll start with positives: staff is very kind and friendly (younger staff more stand offish and felt like they were more there to walk around in chic outfits rather than actual hospitality). Room amenities like pour over coffee, yoga mats, books on “reset” topics were great. Pool lounge area was very relaxing and music was on-brand.||Negatives: Rooms are small and if you don’t have a Mountain View king, it’s just not as aesthetic. Feels like a tiny house camping vibe with no view except steel paneling. Not a great reset vibe? More like prison vibe. ||No signage about: WiFi, beach towels, whether to expect room service or not (my room was not cleaned midway even though I requested it), where reception is located (I was lost on arrival). Limited restaurants nearby so check the menu of their cafe and/or bring food with you. ||Location: more in the middle of nowhere than Joshua tree but great if you plan on hiking in the park. It’s in Twentynine palms, not Joshua tree proper so be aware (I was farther from Jtree restaurants than I initially thought). ||Room design flaws: The outlet by the bed you can’t use because the mattress is in the way (I had to charge my phone in the bathroom). The shower head has a filter which is great but it doesn’t allow you to point it down because the filter is too big—I’m tall so it was fine but if you’re under 5’7” the water is not going to hit your body lol. ||No signage or communication about how to use the fire pit. I asked the front desk and they said they’d send someone with supplies. 30 min later…nothing. I went to the front desk and they said someone just left with stuff. 30 min later…nothing. ||About 1.5 hours after I asked they had someone come by (they were super nice and set it up for me), but wow was that wait kind of irritating as a guest. I also was later told there’s a small $15 charge for it (after the fact—no communication about this before which again…irritating). ||Ultimately, I wanted a reset weekend and the minimalist vibe of the grounds suited that. Not having a TV was a great forcing function. I would come back if they can sort out better communication, signage, weird design flaws in the room that detract from it really feeling “luxury” and better prices for the Mountain View rooms.||For what the Mountain View rooms charge, I’d rather not go to the middle of the desert and book a spa weekend...
Read moreThis place feels like a warm hug the moment you walk in. The minimalist design, calming energy, and stunning views immediately invite you to slow down and reset. The rooms are sleek and intentional with cloud like beds, lightweight robes, strong AC (key in Joshua Tree), amazing water pressure, Jolie filtered shower heads that turn your shower into a spa moment, and unmatched views of the mountains from your bed.
They’ve thought of everything. A mini speaker in the room, kettle, coffee, cups, even a little pad and pencil in case you forget your journal. One morning I sat on the outdoor couch with my coffee, journaling and taking in the view, and it was pure magic.
The outdoor areas are a dream. Whether you're journaling solo or hanging out with friends, the space meets you wherever you're at. And the pool area has its own kind of magic. The views, the warmth, the cozy lounges, the perfect pool temperature, and the effortlessly vibey playlist all add to the experience. They also always had a full jug of cold cucumber and lime water that absolutely hits.
Its peacefully tucked away but still close to town and the park, so nothing feels like a mission. Everything is spotless, there’s plenty of parking, and even EV charging.
The staff is friendly and attentive. It’s the kind of place where your nervous system softens, and everything you didn’t even know you needed is there, making it easy to just take care of yourself and truly relax. I woke up each morning feeling calm, joyful, and completely at peace — a feeling I will definitely keep coming back for. Whether you're solo, with a partner, or a group of friends, this place really...
Read moreI recently stayed at Reset Hotel for two nights and unfortunately, our experience was less than satisfactory. While we understand that the hotel is new and still finding its footing, there are several areas that really need improvement.
First, the pricing structure is confusing. We opted for the 15% discount for new guests, but it ended up costing us more than a regular reservation would have. This just doesn’t make sense.
We were advised to park near our room, only to find a note on our car the next day stating that we couldn't park there. This inconsistency is frustrating. Additionally, we were charged more than expected for drinks, which was another letdown.
The noise from the pool area was bothersome as well. The door leading to the pool is incredibly loud, and we noticed employees slamming it frequently, which disrupted our stay. It was clear that the staff is poorly trained in handling these situations, leading to a less than pleasant environment.
Our room wasn't as clean as we hoped, with visible dirt from construction. When we inquired about cleaning our room during our stay, we were told we had to request it in advance. However, they were able to provide us with clean towels, so it seemed like they could have accommodated us more easily, especially given that the hotel was quite empty.
The coffee situation was also unclear. No instructions for making coffee in the room, and the complimentary coffee at the bar wasn’t available until later in the morning, which was inconvenient.
Lastly, we faced issues with our room keys, needing to have them redone three times...
