Truck would not start in fuel island. Since Southern Tire Mart has a monopoly on the property, we were stuck with their service. No other company can work on a vehicle there, they just have to be towed away. We begrudgingly agreed to use them for a diagnosis. Big mistake. "Technician" Armando informed us it needed a starter and wiring repairs. When asked, he said he checked all the fuses and they were good. Suggested towing to the dealer, which we did. The dealership diagnosed a blown fuse and we were able to drive the truck from Texas back to Michigan without issues. When called about a misdiagnosis refund, they played games with me. "I'll transfer you to the assistant manager". After being denied a refund he said, "I stand by the diagnosis", which was proven to be wrong by the dealership, the assistant manager gave me his name, Armando. Wait, isn't this the same guy who misdiagnosed the truck? Way to handle the issue guys. Put the technician on the phone who misdiagnosed it and pose as the assitant manager making the decision to deny any fault. My word and the dealerships word against yours. Avoid this guy like the plague. And if this "repair" shop is going to allow these things, avoid them as well. I am a technician myself. Armando, you give guys like me a bad reputation by handling yourself this way. No wonder people don't trust the word of a technician. Even when they're wrong and take your money, they won't stand up and admit it. This is the dealership diagnosis exactly as typed on the invoice, which Southern Tire Mart at Pilot did not want to see: "Checked and found truck not powering up with key. Checked fuses, found ignition fuse #44 blown. Replaced fuse, checked over all wiring and found OK. Everything works normally. Test drove and no further issues found." Seems pretty cut and dry here. After the tow and the dealership diagnosis and fuse replacement, I was out an additional $1,207.58. I was originally charged $177.32. The $177.32 amount is the money paid for thhe misdiagnosis. This is all I was asking for. My truck could have been back on the road for less than $200.00 Thanks for the great work and reputation boost Armando. If I could give you negative stars, I would. Bad...
Read moreMy son and I had a blowout on our trailer today as we were headed back from Temple, Texas. We were amazed and thankful that given the load of our car on the trailer, that more damage did occur. We were just west of Abilene, and had just passed an exit that had several stations. With our car loaded on the trailer, we were worried that we were not going to be able to find a place that would help us repair the tire/wheel.
Luckily, we saw the Flying J and Southern Tire Mart. Knowing that it was Sunday, I figured there would be a major chance that they would be closed. As luck would have it, they were open!
It is at this point that I must say this. In our day to day travels, there are people that we encounter whom we are blessed to meet. Armando and his Staff were those blessed people. They are the epitome of kindness. They helped us change the tire/wheel and had us out in literally minutes!
Armando and Company, I wish to express my deepest gratitude. Thank you Southern Tire Mart. My son and I are...
Read moreOne star may be too good for this shop. Nice folks but if they mess something expensive up, you're on your own. In August 2023 that installed some bearings and races in my hub and miss aligned the inner race. Now June 2024, I have to replace the hub. Thank god, I spotted the hub oil leak on the inside seal. This could have caused the wheel to come off while I was driving. Outer bearing is trashed due to this and it greatly contributed to my clutch waring out too early back in September 2023. This shop is now added to my Never dark the door Again list.
They said if the problem would have happened a week after the work they would have paid for it. Sometimes a mechanic can mess things up and you will not find the problem or the...
