Washington Crossing National Cemetery is a fairly new 205-acre national cemetery in southeastern Pennsylvania and will serve Veterans' needs for the next 50 years. The cemetery is located in Bucks County, north of Philadelphia, about three miles northwest of I-95, and less than three miles from Washington Crossing Historic Park. It’s a very large and expansive cemetery that is well-maintained. There’s an administration and public information center complex and public restrooms, a maintenance facility, a cemetery entrance area, a flag assembly area, and committal shelters for funeral services. Inside the public information center, there is an electronic gravesite locator system to help you locate a person buried there. There’s a lot of history to the area and site. Washington Crossing National Cemetery is located approximately three miles southwest from the location where General Washington crossed the Delaware River. The cemetery is located on land that William Penn deeded to Euro-American settlers in 1698, and was used as farmland for centuries.

A Veteran's spouse, widow or widower, minor dependent children, and under certain conditions, unmarried adult children with disabilities may also be eligible for burial. Eligible spouses and children may be buried even if they predecease the Veteran. Members of the reserve components of the armed forces who die while on active duty or who die while on training duty, or were eligible for retired pay, may also be...
Read moreMy father was laid to rest a year ago this week. I am still in awe of the honor that was bestowed upon my father, a Korean War Navy Veteran and retired Lieutenant of the NYPD by the dedicated service members that provided our ceremony. The beauty, respect and military service held were more than my father or our family could have ever expected. They truly show honor and respect to the military family members and showed enormous respect for my father in our final moments with him. I give my highest recommendation, as making this decision can be extremely difficult. Rest assured this will be the right choice for your family member to rest with their brothers and sisters in...
Read moreI had never been to a funeral in a thunderstorm before. My former pastor was buried here today. It was amazing. The honor guard played taps and shot off their guns in the pouring rain. Talk about dedication. We all huddled in a little chapel area trying to avoid the rain but we were all soaked. Some of the funeral umbrellas broke with the violence of the wind. Hail was hitting us under the roof. But the ceremony went on just like it was a beautiful sunny day. I was astonished. Then the sky cleared enough for us to find our way back to our cars. A fitting send-off since our pastor was a Navy veteran and storms like this were commonplace for him. Overall it was a...
