Normally I would give more stars to a store like this but what I encountered was heartbreaking. My grandson visits this place about once every couple of months and always purchases something. He wanted to show his uncle the store and being just 5 years old was excited to show him around. After driving an hour we found that two steps kept us from having a nice visit. Unfortunately, the store isn’t wheelchair accessible so he wasn’t able to visit the store with him. When I asked the owner, he said he was sorry there wasn’t a ramp. I don’t think he’s sorry at all. This couldn’t have been the first time someone was denied entering due to a wheelchair or walker. He offered to help pick up the wheelchair but he didn’t look like he was able to lift 400 lbs. Besides, what adult would like to be handled like that? I’m sure there are many adults and children who would love this store if they could get through the front door. In this day and age there’s no excuse! Sad…
I have a great idea! Put an extra Tip Jar out for ramp construction. I’m sure in no time you’ll get the money. It...
Read moreWow, awesome place! I probably won't add on much to what others have already said, but we recently made it over here after hearing it recommended several times. This shop has a fantastic selection and is in a charming building. I've been a rail fan from a very young age, and, fittingly, both my little boys enjoy trains. (One is straight-up obsessed at this point.) They thoroughly enjoyed the play areas, some of which included parts that looked like custom fabrication, and seeing all the toys/games on display. We had to drag them out of there for lunch. I have been to lots of similar stores across the globe, I've been acculumating BRIO stuff since the 80s, and I'm a model railroader, so when I say this place has an impressive and thoughtful collection of train toys I emphatically mean that. I saw a poster there that I haven't seen since it was on the wall of my childhood bedroom. Everyone in the place seemed to be having a great time. It's worth going out of your way to visit, particularly if you have young children or are looking for gifts for some. Highest possible...
Read moreI brought my son and nephew here several times when they were younger. They both had one of their birthday parties here. They are now in their 20s. I am now bringing my grand nephews, who are 3 and 1. The 3 year old had his second birthday here. Every single time I have visited the store I have spent at least $20. I have spent a lot of money here over the years!
I have always brought a drink in for myself and it has never been an issue in over 20 years. Today, when I showed up with my $5 Starbucks, I was told I couldn’t bring the drink in. They said I could have the water for my nephew as long as he didn’t take it into the play area. So why can’t I have a drink as long as I don’t bring it into the play area? It makes absolutely no sense.
I will never spend any more money when I bring my nephews to the store. Actually, they owe me a $5 credit. Super...
