Brewer’s Store — Local services in Van Buren

I wanna start with this, I’m all about supporting small businesses! I’m not one to call a business out unless they are truly in the wrong either!!!

BUT with that being said, I would avoid going to Brewer’s Store on Alma Highway at all cost.

I have been a vendor there since end of last year. For starters, I was asked to hurry and send in my deposit for my booth to prevent another freeze dried vendor coming in first, and so I did as soon as I was asked! Which was completely fine, Thinking that would basically insure I would be the only one with freeze dried candy. Mind you, IF I would have been told I wouldn’t be the only one upfront I wouldn’t have put my candy in there from the get go!

For 4 months, I averaged over $300 per month. & then I see another person with the exact same freeze dried candy as me was now in there selling as well. I didn’t say anything to her, I just left alone as I didn’t want the drama..but was still frustrated because I knew it would affect my sales. And of course, they dropped nearly 2/3s of what they were prior.

Also want to add, one month my check was short $75 & luckily I caught it!! Her response then was “sorry it’s just been crazy with the holidays” ….ok so how many people were short on their check around the holidays for it being “crazy”?! How many times has this really happened?!

Her books were SO UNORGANIZED!! I even offered to help show her a way to get them more organized and gave her tips on things she could do so it wouldn’t be so confusing when trying to tally up vendors sales!

Fast forward to today, I text Denise Brewer (the owner) & asked that she would have my check ready as I was coming to pick it up because 9/10 she’s not there when I would go. So she said ok and sent a pic asking if it looked right. My check was $93! Well I “made $243” & she deducted $150 for booth rent for June-July, July-August, & August-September. ($50/month) & so I responded with, ok well it doesn’t make sense to leave my candy there and pay more than I’m making!! So asked if she would just not charge for this month since we’re only 6 days in. She says “it goes to month to month after your 4 months but have in the contract a 30 day notice” so nicely I asked to please see the contract & then she blocks me! Never even would send it to me.

A friend that worked there was let go because she told her she “couldn’t afford to pay her anymore”!!! Also know of many vendors that were NOT charged when they left without giving a 30 day notice! So I’m not sure why it’s different with me.

Bottom line is, I was treated completely unfair! I picked up my whopping $93 check & left my grid walls, hooks & 1 bag of candy that’s not for sale!! I will NOT be taken advantage of this way & let her go and screw someone else over & be getting booth rent from 2 people on one booth! So if I was you, AVOID BREWER STORE IN VAN/ALMA! Such...

I initially went in very nice trying to get A return on the dryer that I purchased that ended up not needing. I was first told I had to wait for the owner to get back to even process return. After waiting for about 10 minutes before I went back in and was treated rudely by the owner Then I was informed that I couldn’t return it because that’s their policy we weren’t told that before we purchased. Bought a washer and dryer. The washer is fine. Dryer started making noise right away, then quit drying. They said they would be out the next day.
