PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY SUPPORTING THIS ESTABLISHMENT! They could care less about their customers. Their website claims they stand behind their employees, and their products and they are a business based on honesty and integrity and they value their customers and will "make it right no matter what regardless of financial impact". These are all lies told to draw you in and make you trust them and give you the impression they are similar to a mom & pop kind of hometown store. Again, LIES. Typically, when you go into one of these stores, you already have an idea what you are going to purchase. Based on your research and the recommendations of the "knowledgeable" employees I made my purchase. The sales person (Bill) promised me that if anything went wrong with my product I could bring it back and they would replace it. Great I thought!! WRONG!!! After making several calls to the person that sold it to me, I was told... yes, that's no problem, I will just have to get the mangers approval and I will call you back...NO RETURN CALL EVERY TIME. Then called back and was told well, the manger isn't here right now, he will be in later. I will call you back. This happened several times, until I was fed up. I told Bill, I was tired of depending on his promises to call me back and his word that they would replace or repair my item. Then, Bill says, I know I told you that, but that's not true. WHAT????!!!!! I asked to speak to a manger IMMEDIATELY. Finally after being given the run around for a while, I spoke to a manger. He apologized and assured me they would take care of it and would make it right. I had a little hope, since that is what their website proclaims. WRONG AGAIN. He was polite and stated when he contacted me back that I would have to pay a few hundred dollars for the repairs to my item. I was stunned and felt taken advantage of. I questioned him regarding Bill's statements and told him that if they claim they stand behind their products and employees then they should honor what Bill said. He agreed and said he would speak to the general manager. He at least did call me back and informed me that the general manager spoke to the VP of Marvin's and decided they would not honor what THEIR salesperson PROMISED me. I asked him what happened to your honesty and integrity and the company's promise that they will "MAKE IT RIGHT, THE FIRST TIME WITHOUT REGARD FOR FINANCIAL IMPACT" He simply apologized and said his hands were tied. I could not believe they would blatantly tell someone they would do something and then when the time comes, oh well tood bad. Wow. I have been taken advantage of. It is such a terrible feeling, and I am at their mercy. So, to you, the unsuspecting consumer.... please get it in writing, or go somewhere else. And, do not trust Bill the salesperson. He lied to me. He told me whatever he had to say to sell me the products and when it came down to it, he didn't make good on his word. If he had told me in from the get go, what to expect, I would have known. But to have the rug pulled out from under me like this is terrible. I am out over $1000.00 and it's going to cost over $500 for the repairs. I am disgusted that businesses like this claim to be something they are not. If you promise something, you should keep your word. You claim your business based on doing the right thing first. I wish that were true. I don't see how people sleep at night knowing they are doing something unethical and just plain wrong. ...
Read moreAs someone who tries to support small and local businesses when possible I was considerably disappointed in my visit to Marvin’s. The customer service was severely lacking to say the least, the prices are average, the selections are very limited and the condition of the building itself is… questionable to be polite. I went with the intention to purchase potting soil but the prices were not clearly listed by the bags themselves but were displayed on a board in front of the store which made it difficult to know how much each bag cost and to compare products. Because I was struggling I went inside to ask for help, while the cashier was never rude it was abundantly clear that she had no intention of helping me. When I asked if they carried a certain product her response was, “I don’t know.” She made no attempt to find out if the store carried the product or not, instead she handed me an employee code book that had store items listed by a store system code but it still did not display the prices making it impossible to compare products. After purchasing the potting soil I was informed that customers had to go find and load the potting soil themselves. I am not against hard work but I would have at least appreciated help locating the bags since I chose them out of a book and did not know their actual locations. I was disappointed in my overall experience and likely will be taking my business elsewhere...
Read moreI walked in the store and ask a person that works there about an item that I wanted to purchase.. She told that she didn't and that she was a new higher... And doing what she was doing..... without offering to call for someone who might have more experience ? I should have followers my first instinct...HOME Depot. Marvin's was closer, but the service wasn't what I expected ! I am a visitor from out of town. I will be returning to make sure that this was just an isolated incident and not typical of Marvin's customer service. They did hornor my military service and for that I...
