UPDATED: Have played here a dozen times since January 2021 and stayed here on 9 or 10 separate gambling treks … very appreciative of the monthly rewards / offers!
So many improvements in 2022! The glass wall that closed off the casino from the hotel and entry area has been removed giving it a more open feel … it’s also had a positive affect on the air quality. Not as smoke-filled as prior visits. The Tin Lizard Bar & Grill has opened and offers gastro pub choices. The pizza, burgers and po-boys, all great choices. I recommend a table over sitting at the bar. On my first visit in July 2022, we had HORRIBLE service - my pizza came out 20 minutes before my friends burger. Even though we were on the same ticket and ordered at the same time. He basically watched me eat. Also, the sign may say they are open until 11p on Friday & Saturday, it’s more like 10:30p and there’s confusion among the host staff as one night, I was told I couldn’t order “takeout food” … but the following night, it wasn’t a problem … I’m staying in your hotel, what difference does it make if I eat in the lounge or in my hotel room?! The pool area is back to being consistently open and was presently surprised during my October 29, 2022 stay!
…
My first visit, I came out ahead and played using the Boyd Gaming B-Connected Card. Shortly after, I received an offer for up to 2 consecutive complimentary nights with no restrictions except holidays so I reserved Friday & Saturday. I lost during that stay but relative to what the room, comp’d food and free play would have cost. During the summer, the offer changed to 2 complementary nights Sunday-Thursday and I booked a 2 night weekday getaway. Played and also enjoyed the pool. I came home with $1200 more than I went with! During the fall, my offer has been complimentary night Sunday-Friday and I’ve stayed twice. A random Thursday - I came out ahead and last Friday, I managed to break even.
My only real complaint would be the smoke … whether packed with weekend players or sparsely populated, I think it reeks of cigarette smoke and needs more or better air filtration. I wish the pool area could stay open later and that it wasn’t “seasonal” as I only got to enjoy it during my July stay. In June, I was going to sit in the hot tub … went down around 9:30p and a sign said that it was closed even though the hours posted that it was open until 10p. During my September 2021 stay, it was closed for the season even though daytime temps were still hitting 90+ degrees. Of course, last Friday it was closed. Why can’t the hot tub at least be used year-round? More food options are coming and the new sports book just opened … I laughed at the random sports you could place bets on! I think the “high-limit” gaming area is in drastic need of updating … it’s off to one side in its own area and didn’t feel as nice, fresh, new and clean as the main casino floor. In fact, I didn’t play long in that area as it seemed dingy and dirty. The machines seemed outdated and the ones I played needed to be wiped down. Getting cocktail service was few and far between. It just didn’t feel like a high-limit area and reminded me of the penny slot area of one of Boyd Gaming’s Vegas locations. (That’s not a good thing!) Unless you love the feel of vintage Las Vegas, stick to the main casino floor. Brighter, cleaner, more vibrant, frequent cocktail service!
No, it’s not as fancy as Golden Nugget but it’s closer to Houston, the comps are great and the hotel rooms are really nice. I love the huge walk-in showers! Staff are super friendly from front desk to security to cocktail servers to casino cashiers!
Be sure to use the Waze GPS app to avoid highway construction and possible closures along I-10 in Texas and Louisiana … it saved me hours of wasted time...
Read moreSo my man and me order a drink from Megan, he went away for a minute to help his mom at the booth. When Megan appears, she said she can't leave the drink here until he comes back, it's against the law to give a customer two alcoholic beverages even tho I said he'll be here in a second. She even had me toss the beer I was currently drinking. Another round comes, I ordered a beer and he got a shot but I left to use the ladies bathroom. So it's okay to give him a shot and beer bc he said I'll be right back but when I asked her why it's okay for him to have them but not me she said she thought they were both for me? Ma'am,he ordered it himself. Why would I order two beers for me when I could get one cold when she comes around again. You went out you're way to find and deliver the beer but when it's my drink, it's okay to just hand it over while he still has a full drink so now he has 3 drinks. Either you're lying about handing a customer two alcoholic beverages when clearly someone else ordered and you said I was lying or you just wanted to give him two drinks(technically 3) without blinking an eye. Which is it Megan? Why'd you call me a liar but believe my man with no hesitation and went out ur way to find him to to deliver the drink but not deliver mine when he's on the opposite side of the casino and I'm close by? Makeup your mind and crazy how she called me a liar when he ordered the beer himself when I asked her about it. Megan lied to me, called me a liar or she's lying about it being against the rules to hand two full drinks to one person as she stated. Might I add I'm also disabled and use a cane even though I'm young, so were you discriminating about how much a disabled person should drink on a holiday or only followed rules to whom you feel like? Where's the logic? If I was lying about the beer for him and me, why did you go out your way and section to find him? Bc you know I wasn't lying yet called me one when I asked? You clearly knew it was for him that's why you gave it to him but still called me a liar. Why couldn't you do that for me? Made me throw my half beer out but not his full one and gave him two full drinks. Okay Megan, she's blonde and this is new years eve. Later I went to order food at the little cafe, I asked if there was black pepper on the fries or burger since I'm allergic. Cashier guaranteed there wasn't, somehow they gave me a burger with an egg and pepper jack chz(I ordered a regular burger) with lots of black pepper all over the egg but the cooks wanted to make it seem like I'm making a big deal when I wanted it fixed. I'm allergic, I literally can't eat this and asked to make sure I could eat this prior to ordering. First time here but most likely the last. Plenty of casinos that'll take allergies seriously & following policy for everyone, not just who the server sees fit. None of the servers wanted to serve us after I asked her about it, had to go to the lady with glasses who looked like a manager to get a drink bc we waited in several different sections for over half an hr each section and was deliberately ignored from...
Read moreI have been a dedicated customer of Delta Down Casinos for over 45 times in the past several years, spending a significant amount of money at this establishment. Usually, I overlook minor issues, but the incidents from my latest visit crossed a line from poor customer service into outright disgusting mistreatment and what I can only conclude is systemic racism. Enough is truly enough. Unprofessionalism and Suspected Racism The lack of training and basic professionalism among casino staff is appalling, particularly their inability to cater to high-value guests. The most egregious example occurred while I was watching the NFL game. The sound was on, and everything was fine until, without warning, the audio was abruptly changed. When I questioned the staff, I was given the flimsy excuse that "someone else requested it first." This is not only indicative of staff who are not trained to properly manage guest conflicts or prioritize long-standing customers, but when combined with the dismissive attitude and the pattern of poor service over the years, it contributes to a deeply uncomfortable and disheartening experience. To spend so much time and money here only to be mis-treated and feel targeted by casino staff is disgraceful. It is sickening and truly disheartening that after so many years, we are still experiencing this kind of racism and targeted disregard within a major service provider. Appalling Room Conditions and Housekeeping Failure The state of the hotel rooms adds gross negligence to the list of serious complaints. The sanitary conditions are unacceptable: Broken Plumbing: You cannot even take a bath because of broken pipes that allow dirt and raw debris to flow directly into the tub, rendering it completely unusable. This is a severe health and safety issue. Filthy Showers and Toilets: The housekeeping standards are nonexistent. I have found the showers to be unscrubbed, with grime on the walls, and the toilets clearly uncleaned. The basic task of ensuring a sanitary environment for paying guests is simply not being met. This experience was by far the worst I have ever had here. The combination of racially motivated mistreatment, unprofessional staff, and physically disgusting room conditions has left me disappointed, disgusted, and determined to warn others. Delta Down needs a complete overhaul of its management, staff training, and...
