Dollar General — Local services in Vinton

I've been coming to this location for 5 years. Nearly everyday or every other day. The staff and service has tremendously changed over the past year. New management with very poor customer service skills and failure to honor their own advertisements. They currently have 90% off all lawn and garden. Shelves with potting soil, garden houses, lawn ornaments, etc. There is a 90% off sign (actually several) hanging on the shelves with soil and garden hoses. When i brought said items to the front, the cashier Frida, was insistent garden hoses are not lawn and garden. I proceeded to ask well what is a "garden" hose if it isn't "lawn and garden". Rudely, she said i don't know it's just not that and refused to honor the sale. I asked for a manager and was able to get one garden hose originally priced at $17 for 90% off. The problem then proceeded to be they could not figure out what 90% of $17. I told them with 90% it will be $1.70 they rolled their eyes and struggled to do the math refusing my answer and after some time finally determined I should indeed pay $1.70. Shopping at this location has become a disappointment. I miss the old management and workers. These new ones act like they're paying your balance or as though sales are coming out of there paycheck and spend way too much time arguing invalid points and in the process are disrespectful and treat dollar general customers poorly. Not ok. Family dollar is ten steps away. I will be taking my "quick store stops", nearly daily shopping needs there and encourage others to do the same to save them the headache. Majority of these girls that took over need a serious attitude adjustment and some better training. Either that or get out of the customer...

The worst customer service I have ever received. Employees had a jacket on didn't even know they worked there. I approached the regrister to see no one there, as I searched I ask the young girl if she worked here only because they were on the phone watching videos, I that maybe they were customers. She told me "Yeah what do you need" I need to pay for this, she then said "Register 1" again rudely...strict 2 ...very angry I've never been treated this way...with such attitude and rudeness...Feb 2, 2020 at...

Neatly arranged merchandise very clean store. Kind and friendly staff. Quick in and out for last minute purchase of groceries, household items, cleaning supplies, drinks and snacks. Good variety of clothes, shoes, underwear, purses, baby items, over the counter allergy, pain, and cold meds and vitamins. Makeup and personal hygiene products. Cards and balloons for all occasions. Birthday, art and office supplies...
