Anytime Fitness — Local services in Virginia Beach

Limited on the equipment (2 Smith machines & no power rack, not enough padding on the leg extension/curl machine to use it without crying, missing wheels from benches, only one working elliptical machine (My wife hurt her hip using an elliptical when the footplate suddenly loosened itself from its connecting rod, only one shower, only one toilet, padding on leg extension machine so worn that its unusable). The least selection of machines and machines in much worse condition than any Anytime Fitness I’ve tried. I do not believe this place gets a routine safety inspection or any inspection by the host company judging by the state and placement of the equipment.

EASILY the worst Anytime Fitness location I have visited considering travel to several locations within IL, IN, OH, WV, NC, SC, PA, NY, FL, TN, KY, and GA.

This is the only Anytime I have ever heard of that requires a contract to sign up. Unfortunately I told her to sign up for whatever was required, but a contract was not expressed or implied. She did sign the contract so we are stuck with it.

Pull down machine will not engage with pin. Alan bolt is loose. No note that it is being repaired.

Also, no wheel on the movable bench.

Update 03/27/2019:

Good morning to 63* inside temperature. Maybe the HVAC system is broken. Maybe under repair. With this place who knows?

Update 9/14/2019:

The gym mysteriously took on new ownership after I contacted corporate and asked them to come observe the mess. The new owners are great. I have noticed they have been hard at work bringing this location up to a reasonable standard of cleanliness, functionality, and professional logic that Anytime customers expect and do appreciate. I can't quite give it 5 stars because it is still in the project period, but I can deal with 3 instead of the previous 1. It still severely lacks equipment. There are 0 power racks. There is no true decline bench. Etc.

Update...

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Don’t waste your time at this location when there are several others relatively close by that follow typical Anytime Fitness standards. Equipment is old, torn, rusty, and often not working. Equipment is dirty because users are instructed to use the same wipe for all machines during their workout- gross! Employees simply dust the machines- not sure why. No power rack, no separate bench presses. The small benches they do have have wheels missing and one doesn’t even have the correct back pad but one about 3 inches thinner than the rest of the bench, which makes it practically impossible to use. I suppose the gym is fine if you plan on just doing cardio for every workout, although the ellipticals need repair. Don’t even plan on listening to your own music through your headphones because you won’t be able to hear it over the sound of the gym playlist blaring 24/7. Don’t plan on showering after your workout, either, since there is only 1. (Not 1 for women and 1 for men, but 1 shared.) The only Anytime that has ever made me sign a 12-18 month contract....

I would rate higher, but Anytime's customer service is disappointing. When my contract was coming to an end, I called and paid the last month in advance and made it clear that I did not want to renew my membership because of the expense. Long story short, debt collection agencies were blowing up my phone trying to get me to pay 200 something dollars for Anytime Fitness. This may have been a scam, but I called Anytime to reconcile it with them before I paid this so called agency. However, Anytime not only missed my call, but NEVER EVEN RETURNED IT. This has been the case for as long as I have been a member (3 years).

Overall, I do not recommend Anytime because of my experience with poor customer service quality and general high...
