Video Game Heaven — Local services in Virginia Beach

On Saturday October 31st I go into Video Haven to purchase a PS3 controller. I went up to an employee and asked if he had any PS3 controllers he replied yes we have 1. I then asked if its a good controller he said it has a clicking sound on the joystick but if you don't mind listening to that other than that its fine.. Then I specifically asked the employee IF I buy this controller do I have a 30 days to bring it back if it's not working he said yes bring it back. So I got home and started to use the controller and right away i noticed it's not working properly like it should be so today November 3rd, 3 days after I bought it I decided to go get my refund and of course 2 different employees are working. After I walked in and explained about the controller the employee says they can't issue refunds. They can only give store credit back. So All in All the first employee never said I couldn't get my refund of the controller if it wasn't working and seriously store credit? I spent $31 for this used broke controller and I dont get a refund. I now just bought 2 controllers for $33 at Walmart. That was my first time ever going to Video Haven and That Will be my last. How unprofessional, you sell junk products and then you don't issue a refund. I HIGHLY recommend NOT going here. I should have just went to GAME STOP! So now I have no controller and lost $31. Oh by the way they gave me an in store Credit hahaha I went in there for a PS3 Controller and you give me a in store credit. Thanks for nothing and hope my $31 goes to something important. If i knew I would be throwing money away I could of helped out with the homeless or someone else in need. That Store is a SCAM so...

Terrible experience. Took almost 40 mins to literally tell me you couldn't take something. The problem was, over 20 minutes of it, I didnt know what was happening. Just left standing in the store. Then finally when I'm graced with presence, I get the news and that's not anything to upset me but, time of mine is being wasted for something I was told was only going to give me cents. I'm furious that my daughter and girlfriend have to have their time wasted because someone just prancing around, answering a phone call and completely just walking away from our transaction without an excuse!. Why should I have to tell any stranger that I must be somewhere at a certain time just to simply receive decent service. Horrible service, and if I could give zero starts, you bet I would! No reason I have to see tears because employees aren't ready or trained or whatever diligent enough to move with purpose or even talk to me and tell me whats going on ten mins into the transaction; not 25! I know who not to ask if I come back in. August 21, 2025. No difference in service. Called about trading in controllers, came in, was told I can't trade the specific ones I described to the person over the phone from the store. Before I say that's fine and can leave, the man working answers the phone and continues to help the person over the phone for the next ten minutes, whilst knowing I should be able to leave because what's he's checking he's already told me won't be worth much at all. So after I have to wait for that call to end, I become late for my appointment... STEP YOUR WORKERS...

I love this location as much as the other one! Very cool selection, the prices are pretty good.

I wanted to take a second to dig into pricing specifically, because I've collected for a long time. Some are higher than street value, many are lower than the average though. But, that's kind of how the reseller market works and I'm not going to ding the store over it. If the store was empty of best sellers it would be less interesting! A good example, my wife grabbed a crochet Yoshi amiibo for about ten bucks less than eBay. A win in my book. 😄

Also, it is SO important to remember that retro games inflated really high over the last few years. Again, I think VG Heaven isn't milking that and is just trying to move product at a fair price. You WILL get a better deal (and not wait for shipping) in most cases. Deals are fair on things like Pokemon, but even second hand Pokemon is all over the place and has been for a bit.

That said, there are different items at each store. This one had a TON of Gundam compared to when I went to Chesapeake last year. Both are pretty figure heavy and plush heavy. And both stores obviously have a different selection of games and I think gacha games as well.

I recommend visiting both and then if you want to get overwhelmed with OTHER cool things go check out Cool Stuff. I'm not a local but visit yearly and I always make it a point to check...
