I moved to Virginia Beach in 2019 and spent quite some time exploring different gyms, but none truly felt like home. Coming from a CrossFit gym where the community felt like family, I knew it would be difficult to find a similar environment.

With a background in CrossFit coaching and years of experience, I was searching for more than just a workout—I wanted a place that aligned with both my fitness goals and sense of belonging. In July 2024, I joined Virginia Beach Athletics, and from day one, I knew I had found my home.

The community here is incredibly warm and welcoming. The facility is impeccably clean, which speaks volumes about the pride they take in their space. One major bonus for parents—they offer childcare. As a mom, this has been a game-changer.

The programming and coaching are exceptional—well-structured, thoughtful, and adaptable to a wide range of fitness levels and goals. It’s clear that this gym is committed to supporting everyone’s individual journey, not just following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Came to this gym looking for general performance increase and coaching on more personal fitness goals. JD and Gabby are professionals who are mission-focused on helping everyone achieve their short and long term physical standards. The best aspect of VB Athletics is not just the amazing facilities and programming, but the way that JD and Gabby are always pushing patrons to push harder and challenge them to find their true potential athletically. They are very personable, maintaining relationships with all members and meeting them where they are at and helping them along their own paths to physical fitness.

I plan to train here at VB Athletics for the long haul, as I believe it contains the very best of all elements of fitness, whether it be CrossFit, powerlifting or aerobic training. This gym has become a second home for me. I learned of this place through classpass but quickly realized that I wanted to join full time. The members are so welcoming and encouraging. JD and the coaching staff are very knowledgeable and make sure to guide you on how to safely do the movements and lifts and encourage you to try new things. As a former college athlete it was difficult to find a place that had a similar team environment and support system, but VBA is exactly the place and for people of all fitness backgrounds. I am excited to come to class every day and know that I will get a great workout. I joined only a few months ago and have made significant progress in my fitness levels and made forever friends.
