Beware - Anyone considering joining should know that RTJ is an inferior Club that is now charging far more for much, much less. While the Golf course is beautiful the Club is grossly mismanaged and as a result the customer service and overall “RTJ Experience” is dead.
I was a member for 5 years until I voiced concern about the Club's failure to address a very serious situation – my wife and small children were exposed to raw sewage while in the women's locker room showers (pictured below). Despite my pleas with the Board and Staff – no one ever actually addressed the situation – it was grossly mismanaged and when I demanded appropriate action be taken and pointed out exactly how the Club mismanaged the situation.
RTJ is and has been going in the wrong direction fast and I pointed it out directly to the Club in September of 2021. About 3 years prior the Club selected Matt Freitag to run the Club. Matt is rude, dishonest, lazy, arrogant, and incredibly believes the Club runs itself. Matt’s rise at RTJ was when the Club’s overall decline in the well-being began to be abundantly obvious and put on clear display for anyone that visited regularly – from poor trained staff, to poor clubhouse conditions, food service and quality – it all began to show major cracks and nothing was being done to fix anything. The staff and service continued to decline and members kept being asked to pay more and more money each year. It was frustrating and sad all at the same time.
In addition to the overall experience declining, it also became abundantly clear the Club was in desperate need of money – the amount of public play increased dramatically, so much that I would check the golf calendar before I would head out for a spontaneous 18 just to be sure I did not show up to a Club closed for guest play. As by way of example of these two major issues coming to a head – the video below is of the driving range on September 26, 2021, mid-day, with a bunch of guests. In addition to the driving range having no balls and being in disarray, there was a large group of guests that wanted to warm up and hit balls – these guest were from all the nice country clubs up and down the east coast. I took the opportunity to ask them what they thought off their “RTJ Experience” and how it compared to their Clubs back home – a gentleman immediately spoke up and said “he was not sure what was going on out here [at RTJ]” and that “this would never be the case at his Club” to which many of the guests started nodding their head in agreement. I tried to address this issue with Matt directly on this day and was told he could not be bothered – he was out golfing.
Shame and if you’re using the women’s bathroom watch out for...
Read moreManagement and President of Club are rude and disrespectful. Better customer service at McDonalds. Instead of attending to customers, staff members are hiding in corners on their cell phones or just ignoring you completely and management is willfully ignorant of the declining service.
Management completely ignored a dangerous and disgusting sewage exposure in the ladies locker room. After showering, a drain cover in the shower changing room vestibule began backing up and raw sewage covered my personal belongings and covered my feet and my daughter’s feet. Instead of checking on us in anyway, the Club President continued sipping his red wine after being informed of the sewage exposure. The attached photo depicts the aftermath of clearing out my belongings, soaking up the sewage with available towels, and cleaning up.
There’s a reason this Club hasn’t hosted a PGA event in years. Don’t...
Read moreWas invited to play RTJ for a corporate outing. This was my fourth visit here and was treated to a well manicured course and exceptional treatment. The staff is well versed in customer service and they provide it with zeal. I love the short game area as it is well laid out and underutilized. The range also has great targets and yardages but if you hit it over 300 you'll be in the trees. Use your three wood instead. The hitting surface is a bit thin and spotty due to poor divot patterns. The range surface also has an abundance of sand substrate from being repaired. If you're looking to compress your irons just understand the sand won't give you the same resistance as the course fairway. Love the clubhouse and the attending staff both in the locker and dining rooms. If you're invited to play just say yes please...
