Short Version: Pick Stonewall as your wedding reception venue, it'll be one of the best decisions you make during wedding planning!!! Long Version: Everything about this venue was perfect! The club is stunningly beautiful, and the event spaces that were available were perfect for the size of our guest list (~160 people). We had the steak and swordfish as our entrees, and honestly I would eat the swordfish daily if I could - it was so good! But the chef was so accommodating with food allergies, diets, and they even brought in authentic Filipino food instead of making it themselves when we asked for that special food to be included in our app choices! The service on the day of was phenomenal, and every guest had wonderful things to say about the staff. Regarding wedding planning, Bethany was an amazing coordinator to work with! We loved the fact that a lot of things were handled in-house by Bethany and her team - we definitely paid for it, but it was absolutely worth it to have her be in charge of things such as table and chair setup, food prep and setup, coordinating with the vendors the day of, etc. She also provided fantastic recommendations for vendors they frequently work with – we used many and were extremely happy with our decision to trust Bethany and her team! Bethany was super responsive and helpful throughout our entire experience. There were a few times when we had miscommunications, as anyone would, but she was 100% professional and understanding and striving to find a solution to the situation no matter what, which we really appreciated. I was never angry or upset with anything she did when representing Stonewall Golf Club. The price to rent the club was expensive without the food and drink costs, but because we had such a large party we were able to get a discount since we required use of both rooms within the club - the ballroom, and the restaurant. The restaurant has an elegant, midwest supper-club vibe to it, which I absolutely loved! We were able to keep the wooden chairs in the room which kept to that theme. And the ballroom was beautiful! Because of our large party Bethany had the DJ set up in the restaurant with the bar, and the dinner was served in the ballroom. Additionally, we had access to the covered patio and the green space up by the clubhouse outside. We were able to put up our giant "VA is for Lovers" Love sign, which was the theme of our reception, and it created a beautiful photo-op next to the patio. Overall, we were able to have the entire event space for 6 hours (we paid for an extra hour so that we could have a private dance after the send-off). Sparklers are allowed outside, which was definitely a plus! The TVs were left on during the entire 6 hours, which I was frustrated to learn about later after our honeymoon, but honestly I didn't notice on the day of. They have a strict no shots policy which I was definitely ok with - we had enough alcohol there since we had an open bar, and when people brought in outside alcohol Bethany and her team handled the situation with professionalism and poise. Also we had access to the back room for the entire day which was amazing! And being able to drop off items the night before AND pick up items the day after was a HUGE plus! Overall, choosing Stonewall was the most cost-effective option we were considering, and we think it's the best wedding venue in the area! Thank you Bethany and the entire team at Stonewall for making our wedding day...
Read morePLEASE NOTE THIS REVIEW PERTAINS TO MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER PLAYERS & NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS. THE COURSE, FACILITIES, & STAFF ARE FANTASTIC, 5/5 I played a round of golf at Stonewall for the first time last Sunday and was eager to play a new course, however that quickly changed once I stepped up to the first tee. My friend and I were partnered with two other golfers, regulars of the course I presume, and they could not show more disgust with us being there. We tried introducing ourselves and making small talk here and there but these two guys wanted nothing off it. The worst of it being that they would whip their cart around us when driving off the tee boxes, scrapping the side of our cart on multiple occasions. Unfriendly and rude which added to our poor experience. Additionally, on the second hole after teeing off (all in the fairway or right off in the rough) we were greeted by a gentleman who lives off the golf course berating us saying we broke his window and we need to cough up $700-$800 or he’d call the police on us. He hounded us for our contact information, which I refused to give him because I will not be harassed for something I had no involvement with. Apparently, if you hit a wayward shot at Stonewall, you are held liable for any damage incurred, which is completely understandable. However, Stonewall does not make this very well known besides an excerpt found in each golf cart. Other than my partner and I having to experience these circumstances, Stonewall Golf Club is a beautiful course on Lake Manassas that I look forward to playing again. The staff was quick to read my review and offer assistance which is greatly appreciated! Head Golf professional, Mark Kowalski, is a stand up guy. If you are looking for a course to play in the Gainesville area, give...
Read moreI can not recommend Stonewall Golf Club to any golfer. I seldom give negative ratings but this is the third time I’ve been requested in the last 6 weeks to rate my most recent experience. My most recent experience on the course has to be six (6) years ago or longer. And it was my favorite area course but I’m sure that is not helpful to them or you, the reader. Most recently I contacted the course to make a T-time but upon checking, I was informed despite COVID-19, golfers would be required to share a cart with any other player wanting a golf cart. I could not rent one just for me; couldn’t rent two; couldn’t rent 4. Nope, I had to sign up for any other desiring rider to join me. That is not social distancing and I can think of nothing more antagonistic to golf than a mask (I can’t see well without my glasses and no mask fails to fog my glasses). I suggested they could offer single golf-cart reservations at a $9 premium (or some such amount) and in that way grow their golf cart stable. I was told that was too expensive. Keep in mind there is a new and used golf cart store just down route 29 from Stonewall. If a high price course like Stonewall (my favorite by the way when I could get there) can’t afford to grow its golf cart stable then I wonder, without having been there for years, if the course continues to perform as its former great style. Or, perhaps Stonewall, like federal republican congressmen generally, consider COVID 19 To be a hoax; I do not and can not risk exposure. So I feel compelled to give the rating a 1 star (or a half star...
