Damien's Place Food Pantry — Local services in Wareham

I'd hate to take the 2 stars because I do appreciate these organizations but between restricting food items like the hams today to only "Wareham residence" or particular ppl that they chose is a little discriminative. After talking to the nuns on county Street in New Bedford about rules and regulations for all food banks I was relieved to find out I was not overreacting. & I voted for the president but I as a patron would not wear something political to any food bank never mind as a volunteer. As a patron this place is frustrating enough I can't imagine the roller coaster ride the staff go through. But what is right is right and we are all familiar with the quote of "if you're going to bring candy to class bring enough for everyone or don't bring it at all". Went the other day some of the staff are Rudy, their explanations is that other behavior affects everyone and the think your the same. This is why I go there less and less like every 4-5 months it's like a store with the items on the self with instructions as to what you can take and the quantity, one of the staff came over to me and started to count the cans I had, i only had 5 items in my cart and again was following the count as to what I'm supposed to get from the different section I told the worker I followed the instructions she said not everyone does which made me discussed like if your going to help people don't treat them due to others behavior. It should be treated as the behavior arise. They are not all on the same page one will tell you do this the other will come yelling the opposite then go at it with the other staff. Theirs still...

Love that they offer so many things for people in need it helps a lot. I gave 2 stars because the staff make it dreadful to come while I appreciate their time if you dont want to be there I’m sure others would.They help who they want to help. It’s almost discriminative. And if you come when they want to leave forget it, while I understand they have their own life’s asking for something is hard enough without having to see the item you need behind someone but they won’t turn around and get it because they need to leave.
