I’m really sad to give Meijer a bad review. I live in Warsaw Indiana and shop here almost daily. I do all of my grocery shopping at Meijer. I had one past experience where I bought some ground beef and it turned completely brown the next day. Today as I was browsing ground beef I noticed none of looked very good. It wasn’t the bright red/pink it should be. I grabbed 3 packs of Meijer brand chicken tenders and one big pack of Meijer brand chicken breasts. I got to the checkout and started noticing a smell. I had already scanned the chicken so I picked it up to smell it and it smelled absolutely putrid. I asked the lady at checkout to take it off my order. She said she didn’t think it was the chicken that she thought they weren’t cleaning the shelves the chicken goes on. I washed my hands 4 times and my hands still smelled like it. I called the manager and she said she thought it was the packaging and that nobody has calls to complain about it in a month! I’m sorry but there is no way packaging is emitting a putrid rotten meat odor. I will never buy meat at Meijer ever again. Absolutely disgusting. Someone in the meat department isn’t doing their job correctly and someone is going to get sick...
Read moreMy first negative review...sorry not sorry...the employees are great, for real. But they sell so much over-priced, cheap products...it's all garbage from China (allegedly) - they have clearance racks full of such literal garbage, like items that never sell at resale shops, cheap frames and decor - and even when on clearance and with large percentages deducted off the original price it is still like 3x more than I would be willing to pay, if I wanted to waste my scratch on literal garbage items...old, dusty candles that should be no more than $5 are like $17-$20!!! They do have a "nicer" clothing section than, say, their big bro WalMart, of whom they look up to so much and want to be just like him one day ...anyway, 2 more nicer things to say about them: I love the employees and this has nothing to do with their character or anything and, lastly, they are open until midnight, so if I miss WalMart or couldn't get the things I needed in time as they close at 11pm, I usually just drive directly to Meijer and I have the opportunity to spend an addition 45 minutes choosing what flavor of gum to get or to stare upon the beautiful, corpulent, circular faces of their...

I made a mistake when using the self-checkout and the two cashiers in charge came over to yell at me for it. One started talking to me loudly and slowly, with obnoxious gestures, as if I were an absolute idiot. Why don’t you geniuses get a self-checkout station that actually works and doesn’t glitch after every scanned item? Or better yet, hire more cashiers to work at your perpetually empty registers?
Then, after I paid for my overpriced items and contributed to both of their paychecks, one of those horrible women came marching after me with a nasty look on her face. Before she could speak, I showed her my receipt to prove I had paid for my items. The fact that she gave me a dirty look and stormed off made it obvious she thought I was stealing.
Absolutely horrible customer service. In case they hadn’t realized it, it is our continuous purchases that pay these people’s wages. I don’t have to shop here; there are dozens of physical and online stores I could shop at. It is your employees’ attitudes and nastiness that will ultimately drive your...
