My son’s DSL coaches decided to rent the pool at the rec center for an end of season celebration. When my children and I showed up to drop him off, they were less than welcoming up front. There were two employees at the front handling the temperature checks. As soon as we walked in to get our temp checks we were treated as if we did not belong there. As a BIPOC woman with biracial children, this really disgusts me. I am a teacher and have been a resident of Dublin for 15 years. My children’s father has been a Dublin resident for 30+ years. I shouldn’t have to say how long we have resided here to be treated with respect. We understand rules and temp checks. That isn’t my issue. My issue is that we were treated as if we didn’t belong there, the woman said “I have to get your temps, I have to get your temps, I have to get your temps then you can go back.” Um…I know you have to get the temps. I didn’t say anything refuting or disagreeing with having the temp checks, so I don’t understand why this was said repeatedly.
My 6-year-old daughter is a cancer survivor, so we have been more cautious than the average family and we are appreciative that temps are taken at the door to ensure the safety of others. I had every intention of purchasing a membership to the rec center this week, but after this encounter we will take our business elsewhere. This behavior is shameful. Do...
Read moreI'm disgusted with this place at the moment. It's a nice resource for the community, and it was a draw when we moved to the area a decade ago. We remain frequent users of the facility. The problem is inept management. I could tell countless stories of minor stupidity (shutting down computers and locking doors 15 minutes early and refusing to help residents who showed up within posted hours, throwing things away from lost and found before they were claimed, managers seemingly without gym knowledge wandering through the workout area and giving off-base advice, etc.). I've taken all that in stride. Today, we went there to get a pool pass for my daughter. She had been told that she could pay for admission to the pool yesterday and have that fee deducted from the price of her pass. Today, we went to buy the pass and were told that the credit would only have applied if we had bought it yesterday, and a manager clung rigidly to that policy, citing extreme examples that bore no similarity to our own situation. Had we been correctly informed by their staff, we would have done things their way. However, they should have taken responsibility for the misunderstanding since we obviously acted in good faith. It's a trivial amount of money to alienate a long-time patron over. I'm admittedly kind of old school when it comes to matters...
Read moreAs a new resident of Dublin, I was looking forward to joining the rec center! The center is fantastic! I love going. It is well maintained and clean! If I could make one suggestion as a swimmer it would be to PLEASE !!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!!!! Have daily sign ups for the lap swimming with a lap lane time limit! There is a life guard on duty that can help keep track or when the next swimmer is up they just wait at lane to enter! On the occasions I have been I have had to wait very lengthy times for a lane to become available, as they were all occupied and being shared. I waited almost 40 minutes on my last visit.A lot of swimmers were swimming the lanes for over an hour. I also find it very difficult to swim during the week during the evening due to every night there is swim teams or sea Dragons. Again, the availability of lanes is limited during that time as well with no time limits on usage . Not sure I would recommend this facility for swimmers due to this, and it honestly is a great facility. Hopeful that reviews of members are taken into consideration! Implementation of that and I would gladly...
