One of the most frustrating aspects of shopping local is the ability of shop owners to make up their hours of operation as the mood strikes. When social media allows for instant sharing of these changes, I find there really is NO EXCUSE for a customer finding themself facing a dark, locked storefront. When I check for such notification before driving 20+ minutes out of my way for a store and am greeted with a dark storefront and "oh, we closed early today" as if it's a perfectly acceptable business policy, I do have an issue. There was no sign posting such change of hours; my son & I just happened to catch the door opened to welcome some other people inside when we were shortly told of the closing. Had I not specifically checked the hours before driving so far and had it not been a trip specifically to Lori's Kitchen Store and nothing else in Washington, maybe I wouldn't leave a review. I'm tired of finding this lackadaisical adherence to posted hours of businesses on the Square. It's not the first time I've experienced this. You bet it is the last time I drive out of my way for a place that isn't too concerned with having customers. Especially since I only go to the Square in support of my hometown. There are places I can find cheaper prices on the same product AND know I won't be wasting my time, money or gas on a dark storefront. So I went back In to buy another. It said class full. So we show up 15 min early and decide to tell the owner that I was just going to stand there. She said we canāt do that. I said I am not going to take up a chair and only expect one serving of meat. She said I was putting her in a spot. I said just give me my money back then. She said she canāt cause she already spent the money on the meat. She wanted to know why I didnāt not call earlier, and I said my mind could not think how standing there could be a problem. I explained I was in the ICU with my husband and asked if I could please get a credit towards another class and was told no as it was too short notice! I explained I was a repeat class customer with a husband in the ICU. They said policy would not allow! I asked if the $120 dollars was worth losing a long term customer and they hung up on me!
