A Hike That Sparks Awe, Invites Wonder, and Fills Your Soul 🌲🌄
Beacon Rock is nothing short of breathtaking. This 1.8 mile climb up 52 winding switchbacks will challenge your legs, elevate your heart rate, and absolutely reward your spirit. With every step upward, you are gifted sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge, forested cliffs, and the vast open sky. It is the kind of trail that makes you pause not just to catch your breath, but to take in the beauty around you and truly feel it.
There is a deep, almost ancient energy here. If you love geology, you will marvel at how this massive rock formation came to be. The trail is well maintained, with handrails and safety barriers in all the right places, making it feel secure even for those unsure about heights. Restrooms are located just to the left of the trailhead, which is helpful whether you are starting or finishing your hike.
The only downside, in my opinion, is the tiny overlook at the top. On a gorgeous sunny day, it can get a little crowded, and a bottleneck might happen as hikers are coming and going. But be patient, take it all in, and let yourself enjoy the moment—it is absolutely worth it.
On a clear blue sky day, the view from the top is unforgettable. This is more than a hike—it is an experience that stirs something inside you.
