So just left corks and i experienced the absolute worst costumer service. I asked the lady behind the meat counter if she could make a sandwich . She give me a nasty look and says "no this aint subway". I was shocked i said "what! Look you dont have to be rude a simple no would of been fine". I went on telling her a good piece of my mind and she eventually walks away and the other employees/ the owner says "you dont have to argue with them"(referring to me and my boyfriend who btw never said a word) and yall can leave my store!" I said fine i have no problem leaving but you should tell your employees to be more respectful to people and maybe people would respond better!" So i go home and called and spoke to the owner she defends this disgusting behavior of her employee to no end making all kinds of excuses for her like( oh she's new etc). She also claims of course she ONLY heard MY response and not her bad attitude having employees rude comments! I told her yes after your employee was rude and nasty for no reason yes i gave her a piece of my mind! She can't talk to people any kind of way and not expect them to defend themselves! She then tells me she'll talk to her, but i could of responded different and that id get more bees with honey. I responded you're right i could have and she could've kept her nasty rude comments to herself and its shocking your staff feels comfortable talking to your customers in that manner! I go there all the time and never had issues or been talked to that way. I dont like the way i was spoken to and i dont like the way i was blamed for that rude nasty girls behavior! For it was totally unwarranted. I felt personally demoralized and attacked for no reason! I will not shop there ever again and i recommend no one else to either! The way some costumer service reps talk to people patronising their businesses is deplorable . It has to stop i shouldn't leave a business feeling verbally insulted for no reason! For asking a simple question? Until consumers take a stand this dysfunction will continue i will not patronize any place that is disrespectful to me and i will speak out and encourage others to do the same! I know im only one person but its better to speak out than just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGrowing up on the northeast side of Waterloo, Corks has become a staple in the area. I can almost remember when it opened about 40 years ago. We bought milk and bread, deli meat, cases of pop, and kegs of beer there. The prices have always been very reasonable for a small store. Even when living across town, I traveled to Corks for fresh deli meat and other specials. From what I gather, the cigarette prices are some of the lowest around. Their homemade deli sandwiches are great, and some are exceptional values. I was worried that when new owners took over, things would change drastically. There have been some changes, nothing to disappoint. While I really miss some of the previous employees, some have remained, and the new owners are outgoing, helpful, and nice....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCorks appears exactly like what it is... a privately owned, low-income, neighborhood grocery/convenience store. There is a small Deli where you can purchase sliced meat and cheeses, some frozen foods and meats, snacks, candy, and some basic grocery needs as well as tobacco and alcohol products. Not a lot of product choices but a little of everything you could use. Prices are higher than Walmart or Hyvee, more in line with Caseys. I gave it two stars instead of three, mainly because the store and exterior property could be cleaner and I was worried about leaving my car unattended while...
