Fareway Meat and Grocery — Local services in Waterloo

This is the ONLY Fareway I've been to in all the states I've traveled that has been absolutely disgusting. How can this be?! Is this the only store that is not overseen by management and owners? The 4 times I've been there, always in the evening, the produce is rotting on the shelves, there were literally 2 cartons of eggs left, all but 1 choice of burger was left and the rest of the meat looked purple and dry, and the cashiers were chatting with the guys bagging to the point they ignored the customer they were ringing up. HORRIBLE! I am always near by but will gladly spend my money at Walmart or Target or Hy Vee . What a shame that Fareway is allowing this store to ruin...

This is a decent grocery store. It's clean and has good clearance deals. The selection is decent, but don't expect to find exotics or many specialty items here. No on site bakery. Most of the meat is behind the older style butcher counter, where they wait on you. It's well staffed, so very little wait time at the meat counter. Be careful with the apples here. They order too many at a time or something, so you get older apples than you'd like. The store does not let you push your own grocery cart out to your car. The bagger does it and helps you load groceries. You don't tip them. It's a little awkward when the bagger is elderly and you're not. Overall I like the place...

My dad bought a 12 pack of pop. Kept it in the garage for about a month. Opened it took a drink...tasted like it was property of king tut. Check the Exp date and it expired 8 months ago. Brought it back, Dwayne mngr told me no I can’t take it back without a receipt. So, basically, they don’t check their products and then call you a liar when you want an exchange.
