Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh!
UMMA Harvest Market in Waukegan isn't just a place to get free of charge groceries; it's a vibrant hub of community support, fueled by the incredible generosity of the Muslim community. This initiative truly embodies the spirit of compassion, extending a warm and open hand to everyone in Waukegan who could use a little help putting food on the table. What makes UMMA Harvest Market so special? For starters, every person gets to personally select 25 grocery items that truly fit their family's needs. Imagine the relief and dignity in choosing exactly what you need, rather than just taking what's offered. And for those who need it, they even offer halal meat, making sure diverse dietary needs are thoughtfully met.
To ensure a smooth process, kindly bring a form of identification (ID) with you. This is just a simple formality for their records and nothing more – they don't do anything else with it. It helps them serve the community efficiently and maintain their program.
If you or someone you know is navigating the challenges of food insecurity, please, don't hesitate for a moment. Come experience the welcoming atmosphere and abundant resources at UMMA Harvest Market. This place was built on a foundation of genuine care and a deep desire to uplift our neighbors. There's no ego, no judgment—just pure, heartfelt support.
Let's spread the word far and wide! Share this with friends, family, and anyone in our community who might benefit.
The need is real, and UMMA Harvest Market is here, ready to make a significant difference, one grocery cart at a time. It's a testament to what we can achieve when we come together for the greater good.
May Allah bless and reward the efforts of everyone involved in this noble cause, and may it continue to serve the community for years to come.
Jazakum...
Read moreOn November 26 2024 was the first time I went to this crummy place and it will be the last! They had people waiting outside in 30 degree weather for hours while they sit there all warm and comfortable! They purposefully want to make you suffer for the little crumbs that they give you! My feet were numb and cold! I almost got frost bite because of them! They don't answer their phones too! These are supposedly religious people at that! These people have no humanity and it shows! All the other pantries give you a box in a warm building! They are gross, disgusting snd very incompetent! Also my wife called their and asked if I was there because she was worried! They lied and said they called my name! I never heard them call my name at all! Tamiesha was rude and disrespectful to my wife! She hung up on her and told her to call the police! These are not so called people of God. Someone's going to sue them for getting frostbite due to having people outside in...
Read moreDuring hard times, this place helps a lot. You can choose your own items instead of someone else choosing for you. Less waste this way. Only one experience where one of the lady volunteers extremely rude in speaking to us. A frozen freezer with items was within the picked items. You have maybe seconds to pick items due to others right behind you. She asked if we knew how to read? What?? Not necessary lady? People are just trying to get items because food is so so expensive. I didn't even see the "do not open", until she unfolded it? Do not speak to human beings like that. We are already going through it? Don't need the extra. I have only come here twice. However, the other volunteers are so amazing. Very much appreciated 🙏 God...
