Teresita Restaurant — Restaurant in North Chicago

visiting from SoCal and normally don't frequent Mexican restaurants in other states (it's the little things and it just hits different), but love exploring non-chain, neighborhood family restaurants. It's a cozy little restaurant that looks like it also caters to the school age kids with the mexican snacks, spicy chips and elote. there was even a sign advertising free chips for tiktoks filmed inside with a tag to Teresita's 🙄 for lunch I went with a carne asada burrito and it was SO good! the meat had great flavor and as a whole, the burrito just had a fresh taste. I am picky and prefer crema over sour cream, fresh grated cheese over queso, and homemade roasted salsa over jar or pico ... this place is authentic and hit all my faves. husband ordered a dinner plate and devoured it! I didn't ding Teresita on atmosphere, and I'll tell you why. I think Anthony Bourdain would like it. The windows are lined with numerous plants, along with the plastic gallon jug that's used to water them. The menus are numerous and overlapping. The friendly server approached me, and I just asked for cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. She asked my preferences, down to the last detail. It was the most amazing place ever the authentic decorations really connect with the audience and hosts. The food was absolutely delicous not in the 20 year of my life have I eaten a better meal, food and taco it's everything I like. In every restaurant there's been individual things I like but all put to gother is the tacos sold at this establishment.
