Hilltop Lanes — Local services in Waxahachie

I just want to rant about Hilltop Lanes-Waxahachie for a second. We signed up several weeks ago for a Sunday night league, got jerseys, organized a team and showed up for the first night with sanction fees and dues in hand. We are told at the front desk that we aren't on a lane. After the returning teams signed up there were only two spots left for open sign up. We were the first team to sign up and assumed our spot was secured. We had not heard otherwise. Apparently they allowed 9 teams to sign up and held a lottery privately, conveniently knowing those people by name when we arrived. We drove an hour when a phone call would have sufficed, when the private lottery was held weeks ago. What should have happened was that it was first come first served like we were told it was at sign up. The nonchalant attitude and dismissal was embarrassing enough, but the integrity to not allow all 9 teams to be present during the lottery is just too convenient to ignore. I would rate a Big fat ZERO if I could! Horrible experience!! We were looking for some family fun locally and decided to try it out!! The man at the front told me there were only 3 lanes available. I saw a family bringing their shoes up and told him that they were about to leave. He looks at me and tells me that they were not leaving because they just started. We leave and as I'm loading my kids in the car I see that same family loading into their car. I walk back in and tell him that I saw them leave and the old man told me that the couple behind me got the lane. Soooo.. another family is leaving.. I ask her if they are leaving she tells me yes. So I ask to take their lanes and the old man tells me that he would rather I not take both lanes since he does not have many available!!!!! WHY is this place still open?? Why is this man still working there?? Must be the owner. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. There was nothing different from me and the other two families except the color of our skin and I would hate to think that is the reason!!! Horrible horrible...

Hilltop is by far the best bowling alley we've ever been to! We have 4 kids ranging in age from 10 to 18 and it is our favorite family hangout. Every single member of the staff loves bowling and makes it their goal to make sure that their patrons enjoy themselves and have a great experience. We feel so comfortable and welcome at Hilltop that we recently joined their summer league. The Pro Shop has been fantastic in helping me find and use the right equipment for me with the focus being on just what I need to help me enjoy it more, not getting me to spend more money that I have to. The snack bar staff has been so kind and friendly and even provided a ziplock bag of ice for one of my children who had a headache! All of the people who work the front counter have gotten to know our family and give us tips on what we can do to improve and encourage and support our love for this sport! Bottom line...Hilltop Lanes in Waxahachie is a wonderful family hangout with caring staff members. It has become our home...
