AVOID THIS PLACE!! The only things this place has going for it was a cheap price, a bed, a working shower, and it was very close to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. When I was booking online, Expedia showed they only had 1 room left during to the high demand in the area as Scarborough started last week. For the low price and just needing a place to sleep nearby for a night, I booked it before reading any reviews. When I got there they had my booking request, but asked if I wanted smoking or non (which I'd booked non-smoking) and then if I wanted a single bed or two (which I'd booked a double) as if they had both... which means that the Expedia site deliberately shows false claims of occupancy status to create urgency in booking. I got my room key, drove around closer to my room, and went in. The room reeked of smoke and mold and after taking my shoes off, which I soon felt I should have left them on, there were several wet spots/puddles on the floor, but didn't seem there was a leak from the floor above and I was on the ground floor. It took a minute to find light switches as the one by the door didn't seem to do anything at first, but I later found it controlled the lamp between the beds and someone had turned that off on the lamp on/off switch. The beds were barely a step up from sleeping on the floor in terms of comfort, the pillows might as well have been stuffed with sheets of paper with how flat and uncomfortable they were, the shower and shower curtain had black mold, the bathroom mirror had graffiti on it from someone leaving a heart and a couple initials, and it looked like someone had ripped the small towel rack from the wall. Also, the toilet paper disintegrates when being touched with even the slightest bit of moisture. I felt I had to shower about 4 times while being there as being in the warm water felt like the only clean place of that room.
Finally, though the name of the place is Executive Inn and Suites... the phone in the room had the Knights Inn logo on it, which I've dealt with that chain of hotels before and they have been the worst line of hotels, both from a business and customer satisfaction standpoint that I've ever dealt with in 17 years of traveling.
Do not stay here and do not trust a single good review of this place. I will never stay here again, I would not wish anyone to have to stay here, and I will be avoiding Executive Inn and Suites in any future travels seeing as they seem to be associated with...
Read moreI was traveling with my teen son, and we arrived around 11:30 PM. We had a reservation through booking.com. We get there and the front desk staff was friendly. We go to our room, carry our stuff in and turn around only to see that there is no security lock on the door. There is a deadbolt, but the door looks like it was been forced open. I tell my son there is no way we will stay in this room, take everything back out, go back to the desk, and tell the employee I will not stay in that room, and that I need a different room. He is helpful, although his coworker tries to tell me that the security lock isn't important, only the deadbolt matters. So they give me a different room. I head back out to my car, we drive and park by the room. As I get out of the car, one of the employees jogs up and tells me I have to go back to the office, I can't have this room. Ok. Great. So I go back, it's midnight now, we are exhausted. Finally, we get another room. The employees did make sure to mention the security cameras they have. We go in, there is a security lock, it looks like it was busted off the door and screwed back in, but hey, it's there. So I lock all the locks. No overhead light, the desk light doesn't work, the bed lamps do. The A/C works, the TV and hot water work. Towels are stained but at least I didn't see any bedbugs. The free wifi was nonexistent and my cell phone got no signal in the room. We barely slept, and went to check out around 8 the next morning. The included breakfast was stale cereal and I'm not sure what else. My 17 year old son didn't even want to eat it, and he eats everything. ||All in all, I don't think I would stay...
Read moreWell, the door I'm sure had been pried open not too long ago, so I doubt it could stop anyone from coming in. There were hairs all over both of the beds. The bathroom door couldn't be closed. An old dirty rag was hanging off the shower curtain rod. All the towels look dirty, as do the sheets and pillow cases. There was only one reasonably accessible power outlet in the room without unplugging the tv with no channels available. The heater starts off blowing warm air, then gives up after a few minutes. One of the drawers in the dresser had no bottom, and yes, you read that right. There was, what appeared to be, a very old styrofoam plate between the wall and the bed. I didn't investigate what was on it. The aforementioned hair covered and grungy looking beds, had me sleeping with clothes on, on top of the dust cover, which also had dried paint on it. And while this is strictly an aesthetic point, both the paintings in the room are exactly the same, just felt like that was a lost opportunity. I also want to point out, that I'm not an overcritical person, I'm a combat veteran who's stayed in some bad conditions to say the least, and this place is garbage. The ONLY reason I gave this place 2 stars versus 1 is that is has a roof that to my knowledge didn't leak, and the amazingly fast, 38 MBs, Internet speed. So there's that. Use it to look up...
