First off I would like to name the team members who did an excellent job at this theater and made up for the rest of my experience, Danny, Jessica, and Valerie were all very kind and helpful. However, I would give this theater negative stars if I could. I work at a movie theater that is both bigger and busier than this one, with a similar amount of employees, and I have a literal list of problems that I experienced at this poor excuse for entertainment. I wanted to see a showing at 10:30, I get to the theater at 10:00, buy my ticket, and realize that the showing is actually at 11:35. I asked an employee and he told me that yes, originally the showing for this night was at 10:30, but had since been changed to the later time. I understand this, my theater does it too on occasion, so I decide to get a drink at the bar and order some food. There was one bartender on duty, I did ask an employee how many they usually have and they said two or three so obviously she was a little overwhelmed by herself because I sat at the bar for ten minutes before I was even acknowledged. In fact another customer got her attention for me and I still waited another 5 minutes and then ordered a simple whiskey and coke, She took my order, then took someone else’s order, then got their drinks before I even got mine and I had to wait even LONGER for my order. She also didn’t check my ID which is extremely concerning considering the fact I am barely legal and look about 14, I also didn’t get carded for the movie I saw which was rated R but that’s at least not illegal. I am a bartender myself at my location and I am convinced I could have done a much better job than she did tonight. It’s around 11:00 at this point and I ask the employee at the podium if my auditorium is good to go in, she says yes, and she was wrong, because the previous movie is still playing! Not to mention the fact that you can’t even see your auditorium number until you actually walk up and face the freaking door. I understand my location is a bit newer than this theater is so that’s not the managements fault but the layout of the theater is not efficient or easy to navigate at all. I go to the cafe area and order the French fries from the only manager I witnessed the entire night, and decided to ask her some questions. She has worked at this theater for around a year and got promoted to manager position in a single months time from team member. No freaking wonder this place is managing so poorly, their managers are inexperienced! She also decided to brag to me about the ceo of her theater being the grandfather of the ceo of my theater. How charming to brag when my theater would be shut down after a week running the way this theater is being run. There’s a reason obviously as to why our ceo decided to do his own thing because this theater chain is horrendous. The only positives I can say about this place is that their fries are really good! Their standard theaters are clean and have nice picture and sound quality, their seats recline waaayyyy back, and their water cups are a reasonable size. Unfortunately I didn’t get popcorn because a small size was terribly overpriced at $8.00 and the popcorn itself looked staler and more flavorless than a microwave bag you’d pop at home. Just awful. Again I would like to shout out the team members who were doing their best, especially Jessica the usher, because she was all alone and made great conversation while I waited for her to clean the auditorium my movie was in. She was fast and proficient at her job and had wonderful...
Read moreI decided to take the family to see the re-release of Dune in the theater, and we chose the IMAX theater for the best experience possible at the EVO Entertainment theaters in Waxahachie. We arrived about 15 minutes before showtime, and when we entered the theater, it was so dark that we couldn't see the aisles, seats, screen, etc. I went and asked an employee if they could turn the lights up a little so that we could see to find our seats, and they assured me they would. After waiting about 5 minutes, there was no change in the lighting, so we just used the flashlights on our phones to find our seats and then sat in a pitch black theater until the movie started. It's not very safe to have patrons trying to climb up stairs in the dark, but maybe you're trying to save electricity and assume everyone has a phone with a flashlight on it so they can make due. Once the movie started, the IMAX sound level was so high that it was uncomfortable to the point of making my head hurt, and by the time the movie ended, my ears were ringing like I had been to a rock concert instead of a movie. You might want to adjust the sound levels for your movies to prevent your patrons from experiencing hearing loss. Not even kidding; it was that loud.
Also, the concessions for the movie were a little puzzling to me. You only offer one size of drink, and one size of popcorn, so my only option is to spend $10 for a giant tub of popcorn and discard the half full bucket that I don't finish, or don't get popcorn at all? Not much of an option in my opinion. I asked the employee behind the counter if you offer a smaller size of popcorn since the only containers they had in the self serve cabinet were the large buckets, and she said, "No, that's the only size we offer other than the kids meal tray." She seemed annoyed that I had bothered her to ask a question, so I left it at that and decided to just go see the movie without purchasing any popcorn.
The changes that we've experienced since Showbiz was purchased by EVO Entertainment haven't been favorable from my perspective, and this one experience is just a microcosm of the less than favorable changes that we've seen since the purchase. I'm a firm believer in spending my money locally to promote an economy that employs local residents, but not at the expense of a less than desirable experience. Especially with the price of movies and concessions being as expensive as they are. There are other theaters in our relatively immediate area, so we will begin the process of finding one that gives us a better overall experience. Such a shame because we used to love going to see movies at this...
Read moreI brought my three daughters to see the 7/25/23 7:20pm showing of the Barbie Movie. I purchased seats A1, A2,A3 and B1 because the show was nearly sold out. I got my girls comfortable in their seats and to my surprise a woman was sitting in my seat. I showed her my ticket that a purchased seat B1 and she turned to her friend and said hey you purchased seat B1 and B2 correct. I went to the front and the young lady at the check in followed me to the theater to try to resolve the matter. The two middle age Caucasian women said they did not have their tickets with them because they threw them away. The young theater attendant asked me to go back with her to the front as she tries to look up the other woman's tickets in the system. She tried using the woman's phone number and nothing came up. At this time the movie has started and my girls are in the theater alone. One of the women came up front and said I found one ticket. I purchased it yesterday and it was for seat B2. Still no proof of seat B1 being purchased. The manager came and I was given the available handicap seat D1 away from my children as these two women where able to proceed with watching the movie. The manager had no interest in investigating the matter. I said well is there any accommodations because I have missed 30minutes of the movie dealing with this? The manager waved me off and said how many are in your party? Just come here after the movie and I'll have passes for you. I had to go to my daughters and show them where my new seat was in case they needed anything or to go to the rest room because the seat I purchased was taken without proof of purchase. Had the roles been reversed and I had no proof of purchase I would have been asked to give up my seat to the person that had proof of purchase. I am so disappointed in the Waxahachie theater. I just had my daughter's birthday here back in April and my husband and I were planning on celebrating our other daughter's birthday in August. I will not give this theater the satisfaction of my hard earned movie. I am in medical management and I had just gotten off of work and wanted to surprise my girls with a movie date but I got the surprise of poor management and customer service. How is a movie goer allowed to be seated in a movie without a ticket and the customer with a ticket redirected to another seat away from her children? Maybe it was the color of my skin that did not grant me access to the seat...
