I was at the Social Security office here. It was actually a very nice experience.
We got here before they opened so we waited in line for a bit (The line wasn't very long when we arrived) and ran into someone I knew from way back when.
The staff and security guards were well spoken, very organized and efficient. We had an appointment so we weren't sitting in the waiting room for very long either.
Once we got called up to the window, the worker there was super pleasant, very patient and very thorough with us in handling our paperwork no complaints at all on our end. She even went out of her way to accommodate us and checked to see if we could get what we wanted done with the documents we had on hand, and sure enough everything we came for got taken care of.
It took her an hour or two but that is to be expected. We had a lot to do that day and even double checked everything for errors before we left.

The Social security office is on the second floor when I went it on a Monday I went a 9:00 when they open there was a line but it went quickly I checked in and it took about 45 minutes I turned in paperwork for my retirement. The wait time is fairly short on most days so even if it's a bit of a drive, you might want to make this your choice if you need to speak to someone in person. Food is the other attraction.
