Town Pump Steakhouse — Local services in Westmorland

After hearing for years about this incredible steakhouse in Westmorland from an elderly friend, we finally all got together and went for dinner last night. The interior of the building is beautiful, and the servers were very good, but the food was horrible. Out of 5 of us, only 2 had food they could eat. 3 of us ordered the prime rib, 1 ordered the Chilean sea bass, and 1 ordered porterhouse steak. One of the prime rib was edible, one was 2/3 fat, and the other was tough, cold in the middle, and inedible. The Chilean sea bass was frozen in the middle and tasteless. The porterhouse was very good. The man who had taken us out complained to one of the male servers and he said we should have sent the food back. Our host said if he had sent it back it would have come back worse. Then the male server said there was nothing he could do. This is the third time I have come here, and I ordered the same steak. The dry aged ribeye, medium rare and loaded mashed potatoes. This is the third different take on the cook. First time it was on the rare side, last time it was perfect, tonight it was a perfect medium well. The potatoes sometimes are loaded, sometimes just cheese. Tonight while my food was on the grill, I had very little to do but watch the grill cook pick his teeth over the grill (with the same glove he handles food with) he saw me looking and to his credit, he moved slightly to the left where he didnt think I would see him. Food is phenomenal, service is fantastic, Richard the manager was friendly while multitasking and serves as a great example of leading his staff from the front and doing anything I'm sure he could ask them to do himself. Great atmosphere and great value for the money better steaks and more food than Harris ranch. If you're coming through in a semi like me there is parking available across the street and down the block as well as at the gas station next door make a point to stop here you won't be disappointed. I'm always sad when I'm on a tight schedule and can't stop in....
