Stone House Butcher and Provisions — Local services in Wharton Township

Well, I just got up from the dinner table and remembered I had not left a review yet. In short, this place is great!

We came into the shop on a trip from DC. There aren't many great butchers left in DC. Actually, there aren't any, that we have found that were worth it.

We came in here on a whim for some jerky and left with some ribeyes (and jerky). The butcher that we were talking with was super friendly and we ended up in a long conversation about dry aging beef (we hadn't ever had it but he ages it at his shop). He ended up giving us a dry aged steak to take home! (I would not expect that again, but it was awesome for us).

We finally grilled the rib eyes, my spouses eyes lit up :) She declared this is the best steak she has had in a long time. I will give myself some credit for cooking it properly :D. But the flavor of the steak was very good. We usually spend the same amount of money for steaks in DC, but they just don't taste nearly as good.

My spouse is now telling me we have to drive three hours (6 round trip) to...

We were blown away by the goodness of these folks hearts and how they treated us out of towners.

The gentlemen gave us some education on where their jerky comes from and how long it lasts. We got the BBQ & honey glazed jerkies and they are phenomenal.

The range of products that this shop supports is incredible. Grass fed beef...rabbit…bison…everything you could ever want to try. Steaks of every kind, sausage, and that sweet smoked aroma that can only come from a real butcher shop!

We can’t wait to order your jerky and have it shipped to us....

I’ve been to this place quite a few times and am never disappointed. The jerky is fantastic, and flavorful. Be careful, it’s addicting and hard to not eat the whole bag in a single sitting. Also, the ground maple sausage is the most flavorful sausage I’ve ever had. The hot dogs are great in texture, juicy and less greasy than other brands I’ve had. All of the steak and chicken are great cuts and quality meat. I wish I lived closer to this place, but I always stop in on my way from New Jersey to West Virginia to visit family, so I’m thankful...
