Part of me will always remain at NAS Whidbey island. This base was huge to a young, backwards kid from a poor Texas town of 375 residents. I saw the world and this base was my doorway. 10 years later, I married my Washington born wife on Roserio Head, with NAS Whidbey Island as the background. I tried to register my VA disability card at BLDG 2853 and was told no. I was there 5 minutes prior to them closing so they refused to do the job they get paid for. Not only that, but the civilian employees were extremely rude. The military folks at the gate were helpful. They gave me a phone number to their staff desk SGT so I could file a complaint.
