I recently got back into skiing after a 20 year hiatus. Work, four kids and life kept me busy. I continued to ski out west on and off, but not regularly. my last trip was probably eight years ago to steamboat.
I found Shaggy’s online. I was going to wait and demo skis this winter but I couldn’t hold back. Moved to Three Lakes full-time. Bought my season pass to Ski Bruel. Plan to ski there at least four days a week assuming we have good snow. Last year sucked. Also planning a two week trip to Colorado with my sons.
Spent some time looking at skis on shaggy’s website and dialed in on the skis. I thought I wanted. I wasn’t sure on the length so I called Shaggy’s. They were awesome and helped me pick the perfect skis - the same ones I had on a line - Ahmeek 95s. Then I got their email about their preseason sale. I ended up saving $250 on my skis which were already a bargain. The sale opened online at 9 AM on a Friday. I was on my way back to Chicago for Father’s Day but pulled over at 8:50 to order my skis. The skis are handmade and the website said to expect delivery in October. I got mine in two weeks. I had a note in my mailbox saying I had a large package at the post office. Certainly was not expecting it to be my skis. One of the best days of the year and I’m having a great year. Can’t wait to get them on the slopes. my son recently purchased a pair of K2’s and he is super jealous. my skis are away cooler and were much cheaper than his – especially with the sale!
If you’re in the market for skis – look no further. Check their website for demo days- they have a lot of them in the UP and Northern Michigan. Also do a few in Wisconsin, including at Ski Bruel.

Read moreThe owner will spend as much time as you need with you, as will any one of the employees. They make fun, reliable, quality MICHIGAN skis. Great company, great product. Ive just picked up my 2nd set of Shaggy's- Brockway 80s, to go with my Ahmeek 105's. Sadly, with all this AGW and La Nina, we dont get as much powder here in Mi as we used too, and as I got older my knee's needed a bit of a break from my beloved all mountain Ahmeek 105's (which are amazing, putting down golds and platinum on NASTAR with tubbies, whaaat). As such, I grabbed a set of Brockway 80's during the summer sale and picked em up from Nubs amazing pro shop Dec4 (bindings and base prep/wax). I cannot stress how pleased I am with these Brockways. Everything they Ahmeeks did, they do better on groomers. We didnt have the deep snow yet to play in trees, heck only about 1/4 of most resorts are even open yet- but for a front side carver these Brockways are fantastic. I was giggling the entire day, and dont think I even came close to pushing them to their limits yet. Great show Shaggys, you're my go to ski...
Read moreEvery experience I have had with Shaggy's Copper Country Skis staff and product have exceeded my expectations. Each time I have spoken with a member of their staff the conversations have felt personal and I was always taken care of every step of the way. When I purchased a pair of their Ahmeek 105s (which absolutely shred anything and everything) I received a handwritten note from Shari Thompson thanking me for my business. When I needed to have repairs done after I fell hard at Mt. Bohemia, I was helped by Spencer to make the process of shipping and repairing the skis as seamless as possible. I cannot overstate the level of pride I have owning a pair of their skis and how well they treat...
