We moved here in December and by June I had put this clinic through its paces. We had animals that have been around for 14 years and those which were purchased quickly after we made the move to Wimberley. The girls upfront managed to get our records from previous a previous quickly so we could move forward with my geriatric Ollie. Everyone was sympathetic a gentle to her delicate declining state and when it was time for her to go they honored my wishes with great compassion. Health check ups came with suggestions of vaccines, recommendations as necessary and education on those that she did not need at this time. And emergency visit came at the crack of dawn when one of my horses decided to toy with my 8 pound little dog so I rushed her to their doorstep in tears. There’s no way to describe how much it meant to me that they took her directly to the back and immediately addressed her situation and made sure that she was stable. The vet came back out quickly with an initial assessment and we discussed options moving forward. The vet was considerate and compassionate about the fact that I was so shook up after witnessing such a terrible incident. NEXT, within just 5 months, 2 horses took injury at dawn, one was serious and needed to be seen at my house immediately. The staff explained that the vet had already headed towards another car and he would come to our place when he finished there. Very quickly after I received a call directly from the vet asking and verifying fax regarding the injury and made the decision that we needed to be seen first. He then called the other party and made sure that the first patient could postpone briefly, then he came our way. Once here he reviewed injuries of each animal then went to work on the more severe. It was a long hard difficult injury to manage (in terribly hot conditions) and quiet frankly I don’t know how he did it but my horse and his leg/hoof injury have been treated by the best I could ever have asked for. We took both horses to the clinic where they stayed for some time and the staff loved them to pieces. On top of all of this and the guilt that comes with owning animals and their getting injured the doc even told me a few weeks later that one of his own animals had suffered an injury and that it happens to everyone no matter how hard we try to keep them safe. That one reassurance meant so much to me! The bill- the big scary bill! I will tell you, yes it cost but quiet frankly i would expect no less than what it was. They even have a program where you earn credit or points that helps in saving some bucks too. I never thought I would find another vet that I trusted as much as the one that I went to for the last 15 years but I have and it includes the entire Wimberley...
Read moreWe are originally from ILLINOIS & rescued a Vizsla from Texas three summers ago this June. Upon our visits to Texas to see our grown adult children, our ‘guy’ always did, and does, the road trip with us. Upon a few occasions, our ‘guy’ decided to eat a poisonous plant, and was seen immediately after office hours. We had the privilege of seeing Doc and Dr. DeVries upon our arrival at the clinic. Doc, and his wife, we’re taking care of an injured horse~ but took time to check our ‘guy’ and Dr. DeVries went right to work to relieve our ‘guy’ of any poisons in his system. Dr. DeVries was patient, kind, efficient, and understanding of our V’s situation on her day off. Both Veterinarians went above and beyond the call of duty that day to assure us our ‘V’ would be fine. Exceptional care by both Doc and Dr. DeVries. A year later, our ‘guy’ was able to visit Dr. Ferguson to have both eyes checked from a previous surgery done in ILLINOIS. While we were back in Texas visiting, we wanted a second opinion on our ‘V’s eyes. Dr. Ferguson did an amazing job checking & biopsing both eyes. Fergie called in on her day off to double check on our Vizsla to make sure he was doing well! Over and above the call of duty! We have now moved to Texas to be with our adult children and grandchildren. Our ‘guy’ was recently in at the Clinic to have all of his vaccines, labs, and meds refilled. Dr. DeVries was the chosen Veterinarian. Unfortunately for her, I am ‘one of those clients who expect nothing but the very BEST treatment for our family member’ ‘guy’! 🙄😂🙄 Dr. DeVries did not disappoint in any way. To add an additional note, our ‘guy’ ended up with a partial tear of his ACL, which Dr. DeVries is managing above and beyond what I would ever expect. We have Always been impressed with the care, concern, and experiences we have had at Wimberley Veterinary Clinic. We believe our Vizsla has always had the very Best care from the moment we walk through the door and once our visit has been completed. All staff members are kind, caring, and go out of their way to make sure we have had the Best care for our Family Member which we always have had from WVC. I would highly recommend this Clinic, and its entire Staff to anyone who is looking for the very Best care and most knowledgeable Veterinarians, who believe in giving the very Best care to their patients. I trust our Vizsla with the entire Staff at Wimberley Veterinary Clinic, and highly recommend the Clinic to everyone who desires the Best for their beloved Family members in our case Vizsla! Instead of 5 Starsthey deserve 10!...
Read moreNew review: “The last time I went here was purely awful. I had a different veterinarian than before, not sure who but this time it was a man and the past vet was a woman. I had made it very clear for him not to make additional charges without advising with me first, yet when I picked up my pup there was hundreds more in costs than there had been discussion of. I spoke with the vet and he said it was an “emergency” to administer charcoal for my dog to throw up, but when I brought her in there was no urgency and I had specifically told them to discuss other procedures with me before doing them. I explained this to him and he was very hostile, aggressive, and had poor customer service skills. I asked him if he understood where I was coming from regarding the undiscussed charges and he just stared at me and said “No,” which was extremely insulting. I will not be going back to them, but go if you have expendable cash and do not care if they are ripping you off. If not, I would advise you to shop around if you have the ability. Some of the staff do truly care about their work, but some lack the ability to portray that with their clients.
Old review: “I love the atmosphere here. You can really tell that the people who work here love the pets and know what they are doing-two very important things to me. I like that I can talk about my options with them, and they are mindful too about treatments we do. I tell them to advise me before adding on any treatments and they do. I don't have to stress that they will pile on a $50 dog bath when I don't ask for it. They even will say that if I need an alternative for cost effectiveness to use this spay service, etc. We have comfortable communication, which is really important for me to trust them with my babies. I support them as much as I support NPR, which is...
