Let me start off by saying the place in general was great, beautiful scenery good venue for the wedding we attended this past weekend. The staff was very friendly and accomidating for especially for my father in law who is in his late 90's. The staff picked him up in a golf cart and took him to where he needed to go at a moments notice. As we arrived and settled in I spoke with a guy named Mike, in keeper, grounds keeper, manager etc. I told him that I forgot a fishing rod for some down time. I left the area for an errand and upon my return there was a pole rigged up ready to go for me. Now for my disappointment part of this review.
I feel that the amount of money we paid for the cabin we were in was not justified in the following points that we had issues with. 1, there was DIAL ANTIBACTIRIAL HAND SOAP in the showers, No body wash, conditioner.....HAND SOAP. 2. The mirrors in the restrooms were dirty and smudged like a quick attempt was made to clean them or perhaps a lazy way. The door knob on the guest bathroom does not function properly, you have to turn the stem of the handle beyond the knob in order to open it, main handle just spins on its shaft. 4. there was a coffee maker and filters but NO COFFEE. 5. Nothing in the refrigerator as far as at least fresh water. 6. My wife had to scrub a glass in order for her to drink anything. Very dirty and cloudy, something you would find in a moving box in the attic after 10 years. 7. it was a good thing that we did not have to cook anything because the cookware was worse, soiled and dirty. the pan that was I guess supposed to be white was discolored and flaky with who knows what. 8, in our bedroom was a couple mattresses leaned up against the will kind gave the feeling like "if you need them use them, but there is no frame" ' Personally I would love to stay there again, some of the other cabins were nicer and better kept but I would certainly dispute the price.
To the Rio Bonito Resort I thank you very much for the kindness you gave us and the entire party. Please look into the issues noted above and rectify them. It's a nice place but not for the price, we were...
Read moreThe cabins are dirty, roaches run rampit, and don't leave anything unsecured if you leave your cabin. I wouldn't recommend this place after staying there for a summer and having our belongings go missing. We stayed there during the summer while we were house shopping. We had sold our home and with the approval of Randy and Sandy the owners at that point in time we stored antique furniture, family photos in about 14 boxes of personal belongings, a exercise treadmill, a wine cooler, Amana refrigerator, several antiques, including a Chippendale‘s dining room table and chairs, and a Chippendale bedroom set. All of our personal belongings that we stored on site with their permission in a storage area had been pilfered by their employees and themselves. We found the exercise treadmill, torn apart in their clubhouse and the wine cooler. We found torn apart in the office. The Amana refrigerator had been placed in one of the cabins all without our knowledge. It’s really a shame but at the same time, it’s no surprise to see the establishment go downhill so quickly after Mr. and Mrs. Franklin had passed away. To this day, we truly wish that our belongings would’ve been returned to us, but even after we found the ones that we found they were beyond repair. So if you see a white Amana refrigerator that’s ours two E. Lake wardrobes one opens with three glass doors. The other has one Babel glass door one is black. The other is an oak color, a KitchenAid wine chiller with teak wood racks on the inside, and the list goes on those things belong to my family and we’re taken from us when we rented a cabin there...
Read moreWe have stayed here many times in the last 20 years. The cabins are old and the A/C is not the best but look at this as a great campout. The grounds are beautiful and the acces to the river is the best. We love the quite and beautiful setting and yet less than 5 minutes from the "square". The Meeks family owns the place and lives on site and they are wonderful people that make you feel like family. We love it here and have our annual family reunions here. We usually rent 5 or 6 cabins and everyone has...
