I recently got back into the hobby after a 20 year hiatus. After purchasing a well reviewed foamie trainer (FMS Ranger 1800mm), I experienced issues with the speed controller and getting the speed controller to properly initialize and recognize the throttle channel. After much online research and troubleshooting, I searched for local RC/Hobby shops and found ABC RC & Hobbies in Windham, NH. So, I ventured out there today, with radio and plane packaged up for evaluation. When I first walked into the well organized store, I was immediately impressed with the variety of "for sale" models hanging from the ceiling, as well as organized rows of relevant RC equipment. I approached the front counter and explained my situation. The gentleman at the counter directed me to "Tony" at the back of the shop. "Excuse me, are you Tony?", I asked. I was met with a sincere greeting and a handshake. I was a little gun shy after being away from the hobby for 20 years, but Tony quickly began investigating the problem, and he was very friendly and approachable. This guy has clearly been in the hobby for decades, and was exactly the person I was hoping to engage in search of a solution for my problem. After a full diagnosis, it was clear that I had a faulty ESC from the supplier, as the transmitter, receiver, and all other electronics functioned within proper parameters. This costed me no more than a "thank you". I left with a full understanding of my issue, and a plan to move forward. During my time at the store, I scanned the products and made note of the in-store "banter". The store is very well organized, and is well stocked for RC enthusiasts, offering an excellent inventory of parts and accessories for all model types: Aircraft, heli, boat, ground vehicles, etc. The in-store conversations were a mix of rookie questions and veteran suggestions. I have been into many other RC enthusiast stores that have had a very clicky, and arrogant vibe when encoutnering new faces. ABC RC & Hobbies is the antithesis of that scenario, with a clear focus on offering quality products with a qualified support staff to walk you through any phase of the hobby. I am encouraged to have found such a gold mine of products and knowledge within a reasonable range from home. Whether your and RC veteran, or completely new to the hobby, I would highly recommend a visit to ABC RC & Hobbies in Windham, NH. They are well stocked, friendly, and clearly love the hobby. Much thanks guys! Very happy...
Read moreEmployee setup transmitter incorrectly, settings caused a crash immediately af take off and even after the broken parts I paid for myself were replaced, the heli just went full throttle full pitch and flew off on the second flight. $450 down the drain, no help from ABC hobby or Horizon Hobby. Don’t waste your money with this garbage store/Horizon Hobby. Get a real brand like Devo or SAB and buy it from Amazon, at least they refund your money if they sell garbage to you. Edit - I brought in a DX6i. I told your employee that DX6 and DX6i are very different. Another customer agreed. Your emp continued to say "follow the manual and pointed to the DX6 map. That inhibited the gyro, immediate crash, put new parts on and FC was clearly damaged by crash, hesitated then went full throttle, gone. Id say that's on you guys. I asked for help w HH as ABC offered no support, and you guys hung up. I've never posted a review in my life but 600 spent in your shop in a day and you guys offered zero help. That's why people buy off Amazon now. I'm done supporting hobby shops
Edit" I was new to helis and the DX6i on the forums claimed that it will fly with the 230s but the settings in the manual won't activation safe auto stabilize and rescue, you have to modify it. When i asked the employee he told me set it by the book, looked at my setup, said it was fine. He was wrong, there was no auto stab or rescue. I was pissed because had I set it up as directed and not listened to your employee - ID had have auto stability and it wouldn't have crashed.
I called visa and they sided with me - then the owner called the police and banned me.

Read moreI’ve bought a few things here and for the most part, things went ok (not great). I never had a sense of “love that store” unless the old guy was talking to me with the facial hair. He was the only one who made me feel like I was appreciated. And I’ve heard them talk behind his back about how he’s always talking a customer’s ear off. The people working the front have always been sub-par for customer service. I’ve ordered parts before and I’ve had to call to check if they’ve come in. When they came in, they were there for a few days and nobody reached out. I will say that they really need to either give the girl up front an energy drink, or they need to replace her. She really needs to be trained in customer service skills. She’s mostly one word, or just a slight moan when she gives an answer. She’s always on her phone, even when you’re asking her something. It’s really a bad look for the company. She needs training, or a job where she can get some training. I will most likely never go there again. It seems like they are at the end of their...
