Old School Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Windham

Phenomenal! Absolutely phenomenal!!! Every. Single. Thing. I have eaten here has been incredible. I eat here several times a week whether it’s take out or dine in.

They are extremely accommodating and informed on allergies! I am both gluten free and nut free and they have been able to serve me all my favorite dishes, altered to accommodate my allergies without costing me a sliver of flavor! I highly recommend the nachos, ribeye, GF chicken fingers and my favorite dish, The Chicken Picatta. You NEVER find a restaurant able to make such a wide variety of food at such a top level of taste. It should also be said that every single time has been consistently as good as the last and they Do this even with an extremely high volume of patrons!

Every parent and friend I have in town I’m constantly telling them “have you heard of old school?! Have you eaten there?! You have to go!” And not a single person who has eaten there has said anything negative about the plan! I have heard the service and food is incredible because the owner is also a chef there? I am unsure of how true that is but old school? Whatever you’re doing keep doing it!!

At first I thought this was more of a night time adult friendly bar and grill but in recent visits I have brought my son and the staff and fellow patrons have been polite and rave about how cute and polite he is. Even being over the top understanding of my bff’s daughter who’s quite the little screamer. 🤣 All in all it’s a huge YES for me.

We went as a large group to try a lot of things off the menu. Several items were larger than we expected, so we might have over-ordered a bit. Many of us were full before they finished bringing out entrees. Let me mention that we had several people in the group who wanted gluten free options, and they had a variety of choices and several entrees that could also be requested as gluten free as a modification. The best items on the menu (for us) were the French fries, the steak tips, and the mashed potatoes. My wife tried the berry mocktail and really enjoyed it! Some of the other items, such as the poke and the mussels, we did not try personally but they were a big hit in the group. The prices were a bit high for what we were used to in this eating group, but as I mentioned, we underestimated the dish sizes a bit. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately some in our party felt the bar stool-height chairs throughout the bar half of the restaurant were uncomfortable. We were there for 2:15 and we had to stand up from time to time to get relief for our rear ends. My low rating on the food is just that we were most satisfied with the simpler fare as opposed to the (for example) spicy crab cakes. An interesting choice, but not what we were expecting. I took my daughter about a month ago for lunch, was a good experience. The food was decent and the service was great.

Went last night and my daughter and husband enjoyed their meals. I got the scallops, they were okay. They came with roasted potatoes and the waitress brought mashed. I pointed that out and she made the correction. However, they were cold, as well as the mashed. She also didn't tell us that having a salad was an up charge for one of the sides.

We then got dessert. My daughter got the chocolate lava cake which has a small piece of cake and a ton of ice cream. Husband and I got martinis. He liked his and the waitress gave me the incorrect one, stating it was the one I ordered but accidentally put a marshmallow garnish, which is fine, but I ordered a peanut butter whiskey martini and it came without the whiskey. I was going to drink it anyway but managed to spill it 🤦

She came over promptly to clean it up. Then she told me if I wanted another one I had to pay for it. I then said fine, nevermind.

With all of that said, we got the bill. The amount we paid and the service we got, not worth going back. We could have gone to another restaurant and received better service and food and still paid less. We will not...
