I can't speak to liquor stores in general. From talking to other customers, most Kansan's drink whiskey, aged liquors, and an amazing variety of beers. I only drink wine. I can tell anyone who's interested, however, that Bing's, though small, has competitive hours, and is typically well staffed. Their people are very polite, and try hard to meet their customer's needs. Once they get to know you, Bing's is happy to place special orders for you - I like low alcohol, low calorie wines from Australia and New Zealand. Bing's is kind enough not to look at me like I just grew a second head! Bing's is so small, I didn't realize they existed; my husband had to point them out. But don't hesitate to ask for what you want at the counter. They have mysterious stocking powers; I've frequently been pleasantly surprised, and seen the same effect in other purchasers. Example of the above: if this doesn't inspire you to try Bing's (open Sundays) nothing will. I once stopped to pick up an order, the man ahead of men me asked for four six packs of something that turned out to be a highly specialized beer, "Originally from Cheq Republic," he explained. He'd written the name down for her, and after a trip to the back, she came back with a box piled with gleaming brown bottles, labeled in a colorful name with no vowels. The man was so thrilled he beamed. When I got to the counter I said, "I didn't know you carried anything that specialized." She replied, "I ran into the owner in the back, she didn't know it was there either." It's been around for a couple years. I told him. She said give him 20% off. He was happy. We grinned at each other. He said that made it better. The owner came out of the back just then. I told them, you guys just had the best night. You got stuff you couldn't use out of inventory, and you made that guy's night. It doesn't get better than that ladies. But the younger one called out, "Speak for yourself, it's only seven o'clock, the night is young, my night could still get a lot better!" As I was leaving, so I called back, "That's all right. I probably couldn't handle the excitement. I'm going home." It was all in friendly fun. That's what...

Read moreI love this liquor store. Doesn't matter who's working, they are always eager to help. And they do it with a smile. Next year will be my 27th consecutive year visiting Winfield, so we know they haven't been open that long, but it certainly seems like the business is established enough to have been....
