Bountiful flight does not care about there students in the slightest, I have been a student there for over two years and have come to realize that they don’t care about there students whatsoever. I have had 5 different instructors during my time at the school. 2 of which where fired. I have only had one instructor who actually cares and works with you. ( Kelcey) Today I made the 30 min drive to the airport just to find that my flight had been canceled for another student to do a checkride. I understand that checkrides take priority but the fact that there was no notice is ridiculous and this is not the first time this has happened. I talked to the front desk only for the employee to say that they don’t know why I choose to book the flight after a checkride
On another note I was scrolling through the other reviews and found this from the owner of the company as he replied to a review
We apologize you had this experience with us. When our planes go down for maintenance you receive an automated email letting you know as soon as we know. The main issue the student had with the school is we had to swap out our aging fleet with a new fleet of aircraft. During this process we gave each student a $600 free credit to use towards their transition training into the new aircraft. The student didn’t feel that that was a sufficient amount of free transition money. He decided to leave the flight school after we upgraded the new fleet. Not allowing him to have more than $600 was the “unreasonable“ comment.
I have been a student for two years and was there for the transition into new planes and never received any 600$ credit I’m not sure if this is just a totally incorrect statement from the owner or if somehow I was not included in this. None the less I am extremely unhappy with this company and can’t wait to finish my license and leave for another flight school if you are looking into this school I strongly urge you to...
Read moreI went to FLT academy and faced many problems because they didn't support students with disabilities well. Before starting, I passed the first-class medical aviation physical, which the school required before beginning the program.
Accessibility and Support: Even though I told them about my hearing disability before starting, the instructors didn't know how to help me properly. They confirmed to be flexible and understanding, but they weren't.
Inconsistent Instruction: The program had many different instructors. Some were consistent, but most were substitutes who got impatient when I asked for clarification. This made it hard for me to learn.
Discrimination and Program Removal: I felt discriminated against because of my hearing disability. I was removed from the program before my stage two test due to my need for frequent clarification, which I believe was not justified.
Institutional Priorities: The school seemed to care more about its reputation and push students through quickly rather than helping those who needed extra support. My instructor focused on students who were progressing faster, leaving me behind and hurting my progress. Ultimately this led to him having a conversation with the Chief Operating Officer, which was very one-sided.
Scheduling and Resource Issues: There were many scheduling changes, and sometimes I went a week or more without flying because my instructor was busy with other students' tests. The limited availability of planes also slowed my progress. Even though I was a part-time student, they expected me to keep up with full-time students.
Based on my experience, I can't recommend FLT academy for students with disabilities or different learning styles. The lack of support, inconsistent instruction, and focus on reputation over individual needs made my experience disappointing and...
Read moreI was drawn to bountiful flight because of the lower cost of training than other flight schools in the area. Initially it was hard to get on the schedule and after flying once here it became apparent that their schedule is full of intro flights leaving little or no time for regular students. My instructor was the only one available for my first flight and after weeks of trying to work into the schedule for continuing flights I decided to find another flight school with better availability.
My experience: The first and only time I flew here I got a call the night before from my instructor asking if I could come later in the morning than I originally scheduled online. I politely agreed. When I arrived the next day at the later time my instructor asked if I would actually leave and come back later that afternoon. I said no because I live an hour away. We walked out to the airplanes and we went to a more expensive per hour aircraft then I scheduled. I told my instructor I was scheduled for a Cessna 152 not a 172. He gave me a sales pitch I was resistant to but he continued advocating for the larger aircraft. I agreed and we went up. The aircraft was dirty inside and out. There was bugs splattered all over the windshield and it was the end of winter. No bugs had been out for months. Overall we had a great flight and he was a great flight instructor. Back on the ground he filled out my log book and we arranged for payment.
This is the third flight school I have flown with and I have accumulated over 50 hours of flight time before visiting bountiful flight. It is an...
