I always used Ace Hardware in SoCal. I moved to Georgia almost four years ago but didn’t really need a hardware store until very recently. Though I did go to the Jasper store a couple times before Covid Struct hard the first time - which was equally great. The Woodstock store came to my attentions as a passenger while with a friend. I told myself to remember it because it was close to my home. I needed some boards to put under a mattress and a couple other things so I went. As a small business owner in SoCal and as a person who only owned a handsaw and at any given time would need various cuts and thickness of wood. So I made two lists one for wood and the other for everything else. I would give my wood list to the person who would do that and we would go select the pieces which most of the time I paid by the foot because they sold me the off- the wood was cut I was disappointed that this store-Woodstock-does not cut, I’m hoping they will in the future. I was happy to find, with their help, that they had the 60” length’s I needed and didn’t need any cuts after all. Love a happy ending. One of the great things about Ace are their hundreds of drawers full of and clearly labeled by type and size the screw, nuts, washers and other needs so that you can purchase one or a hundred and one. I needed help in making a decision and an employee was right there to help including taking me to the check out with her list of wood and hardware that she had pulled for me and helped to be sure the many different items made it out the store and into the car. I got home and everything was there. I was able to get on with my day of handy-gal chores and completed them. I got the boards under the mattress, hung up four brackets for two shelves, the sewing machine back into its cabinet, recovered a chair seat and got many pictures hung. I’m very happy with this Ace Hardware (Woodstock). I would recommend this store to anyone. I not once had to walk around store everywhere looking for someone wearing orange or blue but, every time I had a question someone was right there. Everyone I encountered was friendly, had smiles on their faces, were helpful and even laughed at my silly Mom/Grandma jokes. Thank you Ace Hardware!!
Knock Knock, Whose there? Olive, Olive who? Olive you! You make hardware...
Read moreNot a place I would really suggest, but when experiencing the quality of "mower repair shops" this isn't actually that horrible of a place.
I came here after having my mower at another shop for 2 weeks and they were still unable to get the part because they were using some outdated method of trying to get the parts. I came to this place because it was the most highly recommended in the area. This place is super busy with repairs and very understaffed. They quoted me 2 weeks to get the repair done, even through they had the parts by day 4. I kept calling in for updates because my grass was knee high by the time I had left it here for a week and the previous shop for 2 weeks. They kept telling me they can't really check (apparently they are still pretty old school here too). They kept assuring me they would call when it was done, so I quit trying to reach out. After 18 days had passed by I called again and they told me it had been completed at the end of the prior week (and I got no call or voicemail and am by my phone 24x7). Not very professional.
I was told that my blade was bent and needed replaced, but when I got there they told me they weren't sure. When I talked to the guys that helped me load my mower up, they said it most likely didn't need replaced (not very assuring that I'm not going to have another issue soon down the road).
After getting it home, I was very pleased with the blade sharpening, however I've noticed that the drive train on the wheels is VERY noisy now and makes some really bad noises when used for a few minutes at a time and the mower can no longer pull itself in a straight line, as well as they did not use a genuine part for the replacement, so the wheels slip while using the mower and decide to start mowing my grass lower as they see fit.
Totally not happy with this place, but really hate to take it back, expecting another 2-3 weeks before I get it back. I won't return here, next time I'll just toss a perfectly good mower and buy a new...
Read moreMorgan Ace Hardware used to be a great store when it was in downtown Woodstock, seems like management has changed since the move... I see why recent Star count on here is so low. As an amputee now, I order a lot of stuff online as going out is difficult. I was in need of some items and placed an order where the website said that the items were IN STOCK, the email confirmation said they were also IN STOCK. I had given my wife s cell number on the order since she was picking it up, so if there was a problem, they could text/call her. She arrived there to find that the order was cancelled due to NO STOCK on either item! I did receive an email... but my laptop was not on after the order was placed. A simple call could have saved her time in her busy errand schedule and gas! Shop elsewhere, these people are too lazy to keep up with inventory or make a phone call when necessary! REPLY TO OWNER"S COMMENTS: The standardized rely from the manager only shows that ordering online is not the way to buy from Ace! Theft of a 36 or 48 inch steel rod is hard to put under a shirt! Sale of the two items I ordered is rare at best, and not both simultaneously. Ace Corp should check with the store BEFORE sending an email saying order is confirmed. When an order is messed up, and costs the buyer time and expense... just own up to it. No need for speculated excuses. I will call the other local Ace hardware stores before venturing out from now on and Never depend on In Stock...
